Georgetown Transfer Questions

Hey,

Just to clarify for everyone - My college (CC) GPA is 3.7. I was applying to GU with 58 credits so pretty much as a junior although SFS says that you probably will require at least 5 semesters to finish their degree if you apply as a transfer. I never took the SAT/ACT's and GU didn't require them if you're out of HS for more than 5 years. I graduated HS in 2000 and my GPA was GPA (Weighted): 2.56 (Non-Wgtd) 2.52. I didn't do well in high school and I actually never planned on going to a great college but a lot has changed in the past 7 years. I'm 24 btw.

That's pretty bare bones as far as my background but it should at least clear some stuff up.

Also, I appreciated your post Pitttransfer.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get an e-mail back one way or another from the admissions counselor. I'm not expecting a miracle though - maybe just some closure? Ah, this sucks.

hey smile,
i was wondering to whom u requested to be notified of ur decision earlier and also if u think it is a good idea to ask or wait as it will hurt ur chances. thanks

smiledarling, did u actually get rejected or what happened? Plus, ur grades really arent that bad, I mean...just h.s, but that was only High school and people change.

you guys...I just called...and I asked them about transfer acceptance rate this year...they said they don't know yet..they said "we still check "how many spots are available...and it's still in process..." to me...I think 15% acceptance rate is not true...

YTA4-im a MSB transfer applicant. Will all MSB/SFS/AS applicants be notified around the same time or will each school send out decisions individually?

Tdolson88, I applied to the MSB too. I think we will all hear around the same time, the school u apply to does not matter? Since ur a current student, is the business school there good? Especially for international business. Let me know. I hope we both get in! Have u heard anything from Gtown about anything?

I know that it was ranked 11th by Business Week for its Undergraduate business program. It's still a relatively young school (1957) but it has made great advancements in the last 10 years. With the new construction and increasing alumni connections, the program should only become better. I think Georgetown understands that business programs are a vital component to increasing endowments and this is certainly an area that GU needs to improve upon. I'm not sure about the international business program. I could only imagine that it is strong b/c of its proximity to DC. Overall, I think the MSB is going to take off in the next few years.

I got into MSB today.

CONGRATS! How did you find out, when was your app. complete?

^good char12

hey, I was meaning the business school at Boston College. How is it there??? I know that GU MSB is a young program

tdolson, i was meaning at BOSTON COLLEGE

Cavs019, did u actually get an official letter in the mail???? CONGRATS!

Yea, I'm still at school but I had my parents open it. Small envelope I believe. Also, thanks a lot guys, I'm sure the good news should be here any day now.

I know its annoying, but did you have an interview, when was your app complete, is this the first thing you have heard from GU?

I did have an interview, never received confirmation my app was complete but I had everything "in" around late January.

CAVS019, so r u going to enroll and what major do u plan to major in? NICE JOB

Honestly I am unsure at this point, I applied as a management major. I have to decide between MSB, Cornell ILR, Colgate, and I turned down Wash U due to their early required response date. Still waiting on divine intervention via Harvard and Dartmouth. :)

I just got off the phone with the admissions office and they said none of the letters have been sent yet.. they won't go out for another couple of weeks....wonder what is going on. Any ideas?

Braird... you wanna know something secret...?

man.. I shouldn't tell you this but..

'They are liars'
