I am not sure whether somebody else has already opened up the thread for 2013, and hopefully it is not too 'late' to prepare for 2013's transfer. ^_^

Here we go, my stats:

College: Rutgers, Journalism Major, GPA 3.75.
High School GPA: Approximately 3.5 (finished my high school in Australia and Nederland)
SAT or ACT: none
Extracurricular: IT developing, full-time working experience, immigrational affairs admin, multi-language speaker/learner...
Applying for: Georgetown College - Political Economics.

Okay, my turn. Georgetown was my dream school, my top choice, but I got rejected for fall of 2012…just like the stereotype says, I’m going to GW next year. haha. I haven’t actually started yet, so no college GPA, but here are the stats I do have. Also, what sort of GPA do you think I should maintain to have a strong chance to be admitted into Georgetown?

College: GW, no GPA yet.
High school GPA: 3.933. Took 4 APs senior year, 4 APs junior year, 1 AP sophomore year. Nearly all other classes were honors, except for maybe 1 or 2
SAT/ACT: 2220. breakdown: 680 math, 780 CR, 760 writing
Extracurricular (again, all from HS as of now): was Editor of my school newspaper, president of Spanish Club, and president of Muslim Awareness Club.
Class rank: my high school doesn’t do class rank.

I think my GPA is probably what kept me out. 3.933 weighted, no idea what it is unweighted; certainly far too low for Georgetown.

forgot to mention that I’ve been out of school for over 5 yrs (as @giantmidget quoted), that’s why I don’t need to take SAT/ACT… Hopefully I wasn’t wrong abt that.

College - Peer School (slighly lower ranked than G-town)
College GPA - 3.86
High School GPA - 3.79, IB of 31 pts, 5 - AP US History
SAT, ACT - 1440/1600 (690 M & 750 CR), 32

Extracurriculars in college: Editor/Contributor to Political Journal, Roosevelt Institute Policy Director, Delta Phi Epsilon Foreign Service Fraternity (started at G-town), Undergraduate Pre-Law Society, and Chinese for Careers Club

Internships: Development coordinator at the Roosevelt Institute Think Tank (spring semester), my home state’s Economic Development Organization as a International Trade intern where I write about the markets of the Pacific Rim (summer)

-Published in a national journal this last spring and spoke at a conference in DC.

-Received a $1200 grant to conduct a research project on US-China relations in the context of Southeast Asia this summer

I’m torn between applying as a Regional and Comparative Studies major with a focus on Asia or an International Politics major with a concentration of Foreign Policy and Processes. I think there will be a lot of overlap between my classes in the IPOL concentration and the Regional Studies concentration, so I’m contemplating applying as a RCS major to improve my chances because IPOL is the most popular major (the application indicates that you pick one major to apply as a transfer). On the other hand, the website says that transfer students will get a general external transfer advisor until they declare a major, hence my confusion.

What do you all think my chances are? And if you could provide input on answering my conundrum that’d be great.

*Applied EA Fall 2011: deferred and ultimately rejected.

I just visited Georgetown Yesterday and I have to say it has got to be one of the most beautiful schools I have ever been to. The architecture and culture in the surrounding city is phenomenal. I know this may be a longshot but I’ll be applying this fall for transfer from a CC in California. Im an economics major, and these are my stats:

Chances?

Me: Non-Trad 25, SC resident, Hispanic male, took a 9 month contract with a professional soccer team in Spain right after HS, didn’t cut it and moved back to the US playing lower level professional soccer for a few years (USL-think A/AA baseball), got something like 13 varsity letters and was an all-state soccer player back in HS, realized I wasn’t good enough to make it to the big time so joined the air force reserves to pay tuition and here I am…

current ECs: research in a marine bio lab looking to be published some time late 2013, volunteer at a low income health clinic, monthly AF drill weekends, club soccer

reason for transferring: the state cut the scholarship funding promised to Military personnel so I’m out 9k a year in scholarships looking fwd

I’m wondering if my story is compelling enough to try for the real top tier schools?

Chance me, you guys? I know I’m not that good as a candidate, but what the heck.

SAT: 1780.

Got 5th place at national high school programming competition with my team in Doha.

What are my chances, guys? I know my HS GPA and SAT scores won’t do me justice, but I’m hoping that my ECs and University GPA will give me a tad bit of a chance. Thanks for the help in advance! Oh, and i’m applying to the computer science major.

I am hoping to transfer to Georgetown University this coming fall and am eagerly preparing my application. Of course, my SAT scores were not nearly as “glowing” as I remembered them, actually they are quite dismal, and I was wondering do I have a chance of getting into GU with the scores I have? Will they simply nix my application because my scores are not “ivy quality?” Should I retake the SAT or SAT II? Of course as a college freshman I am all too eager to put the woeful years of SAT testing behind me, and never never enter those four walls of cursive and cursing. I am a good student with a strong GPA, and I have participated and led a lot of interesting activities. This said, I’m not a fool and I know that many other students are also eager students who are involved in interesting things. Thoughts?
