Considering transferring

I just graduated highschool and I only applied to 3 colleges. NYU Stern being one of them, I was denied.

I am now going to be attending a school (University of Oregon) that I do not really want to attend. I recently visited georgetown and liked it a lot. I am now considering georgetown, among many others, as a school that I might want to transfer into.

In highschool I got a 3.3 GPA unweighted, but a 2130 sat (740m 710r 680w) and on SATII's I got a 720 Math IIc and a 640 Chemistry

My highschool gpa is low because of my freshman and sophomore years, but my last two years I did very well with a difficult courseload and did well on AP exams.
Calc AB=5
Stat=5
Chemistry=4
Physics C 4's on both mechanics and E&M
AP Euro=3

I would like to retake the SAT I think I can do better, my score is from end of junior year. And I have a feeling that I will do very well in my first year at oregon 3.7 gpa easily with classes that are challenging.

So what do you think my chances are and what else could I do to help my chances.

In order to transfer to Georgetown, you should definitely strive to have at least a 3.5 GPA for both semesters of your freshman year; it would not hurt to have a couple extracurricular activities either. Honestly, I would not waste your time retaking the SATs; for transfer applications the focus is on your college experience. Basically, a strong application and good stats from college are the essentials for transferring.

As a side note, don't go into the year already saying you do not want to attend that university- give the school a chance, make some close friends, and if you end up still wanting to transfer at the end of the year, at least you will have made the most of your freshman experience (it only happens once- and believe me, it's your free ticket to be frivolous and make mistakes, take advantage of that)... Good luck!
