Georgetown Transfer Thread

Yeah, I don’t know what to do either, it’s kinda scaring me to be honest that I haven’t heard anything yet since it seems so many people have already for some reason when last yr people still heard back until around the 13th. =(

Well it seems like most of the college decisions still arent out

OK, so I’ve been stalking this thread for months now and decided that, since it is down to the wire, I might as well join CC and discuss. First of all, has ANYONE heard of Philosophy transfers at GU?! I spoke with the department head and it is a small program in terms of degree-seekers. In my mind, that helps me as its also not as competitive. I’m unsure though…anyone care to shed some light?

i would start panicking after next week o.o. don’t lose hope yet guys!

transfer84, my goodness, I hope so. I’ve been running to the mailbox everyday since mid April. This is taxing!!!

Any sociology people hear yet? Is it a small departmet too? I emailed the college beause i have a housing lease to sign but still havent heard back

Has anyone here gotten an early read? PM if you have please

Got my acceptance email earlier today- did not request an early read. My stats are on here somewhere but for those want them (as I know always ask haha):

Applied: College- Russian Major
Current: University of Hartford
HS: 3.7
SAT: 1790- that’s right, it’s possible lol.
College GPA: 3.8
ECs: Government run research internship, taught English in rural Russian high schools, research on Perestroika being published, French club, 30 hrs paid work per week, etc.
Essays: First one talked about how I needed to change my major, second one I focused on how I witnessed the political riots in Moscow first hand and how this made me realize that a school like GTown had the international focus I needed to succeed, blah blah. Could have been written better, however.
Recs: on a scale of 1-10, I’d give em a 9.

Think that’s about it. Good luck to all and congratulations to others who may have been accepted today!

Congrats…this is not sitting well with me…

Honestly, if I got in, you’re bound to get in or I’ll be convinced they’re pulled from a freaking hat. Don’t give up quite yet.

Поздравляю! (congrats :wink: ) did you apply last year?

Ahh! спасибо большое!!

Oh sorry, no I did not- no previous wait list status, no early read

@alyssa921714
BIG Congrats! :slight_smile: :)

i have a may 15 deadline for another school i was accepted to- should i ask for an early read? does it hurt if i ask for that?

also… when should i email them asking for it? does it really work?

IM NERVOUSSSSSSSSSSSSS

@alyssa921714 when did you apply?

oh also i dont mind paying the deposit for hte other school then withdrawing if i hear good news from georgetown… how should i go by this?

Do any other accepted students know when we’re supposed to get financial aid info? I have a May 15 deposit deadline at another school, and knowing what Georgetown is offering would definitely impact my decision.

Also, congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far, and good luck to those who are still waiting! :)

I’m freaking nervous

hi guys, i’m new to CC

I haven’t been given a decision yet but I was emailed about my financial aid award today. Did this happen to anyone else?

The email said I was assigned a councelor in the financial aid office and in a separate mailing I’d recieve an ID and password to the MyAcess system, and told me how much I would have to pay for a deposit to reserve my place… yet was signed that “this letter does not consitute an offer for admission”

Why would they email this to me while some accepted students have not been contacted yet?
