Georgetown Transfer Thread

@gormansys. Congrats, I wanted to ask, did you have a huge upward trend?
I have a cumulative GPA of 3.3, though the last 2 years I have kept a 3.95 unweighted (4.2 weighted). The 1st time I went to college I wasn’t focused which was 10 years ago, I really hope they look at who I am as a student now, most of the state school only look at cumulative GPA so I am heavily relying on private colleges. (I did get into my backup UCSB which I am very happy about) I am getting nervous as so many people already know and I haven’t heard a peep since they misplaced my profs recommendation, that they found only a few hours after almost giving me a heart attach trying to get the prof to email it to them.
By the way, since this is the first time posting to this forum, I applied to the College for Psychology.

Yay alyssa you got in!!!

Oh and everyone else too! Sorry that sounded kind of rude. I just had talked to her a little more.

@lk1116

I was admitted as a Government major, though I noted that I may end up double-majoring in Government and Economics. And thanks!!

ettohtiw, I felt like I did indicate I was a good fit for Georgetown (and that Georgetown was a good fit for me) through my essays. My interviewer kept saying “You’re perfect for Georgetown” so I’m not sure what to make of it. Well I feel like by saying “we want some people to accept our offer of admission more than others”, Georgetown seems to be saying they want some students more than others. So what does that make students accepted next week? I dunno, I was talking to a professor at my current university and he kept saying “There is an element of randomness to elite school admissions”. Maybe he’s right =/

I’m a little stressed out with final exams right now and I feel like this whole wait isn’t exactly helping…sorry if I offended anyone…

:(

Btw, have any international students received their acceptances yet?

I got in for transfer! Yay!

@novagirl321: You got an email notification today?? I wasn’t aware they were releasing decisions during weekends also. Congratulations!

No news on the international front…but that could just be on my end lol. Do they send out decisions over the weekend?

@elisa10 Haha thank you!! You know some crazy languages so I can’t imagine them rejecting someone with those sort of outside skills. Let me know if you get the email soon!

I hope we all get admissions letters/e-mails this week guys! :)

i hope my finals this week will effectively distract me lol. and hopefully we’ll all get good news.

So does it seem like all MSB acceptances have already been sent out?

esthetique, this has been distracting me from studying for finals lol

transfer84, I’d appreciate even a rejection because the earlier I place my deposit at UNC the sooner I can pick the classes I want without them filling up.

I don’t really care how long I have to wait if it’s for an acceptance, I want this so badly and I’m losing hope :(…

Don’t give up, guys! I was in your same shoes a few days ago and with each new batch I was sure it was a nail in my coffin, and that my stats simply weren’t up to par with the rest of the applicants. There’s always a chance!

I found this thread very encouraging, unlike many other transfer threads, u guys just take everything positively.

I wish everyone gets in here, and it is possible - We probably have around 50 ppl (50/170) following this thread and the fact is a lot of us have very outstanding stats or backgrounds. Besides, the eagerness comes out vehemently over here than anywhere else.

Come on guys! let’s finish our final exams first and startle the admissions with our excellence.

@Sn0wBu6

I was joking about my post. I just completed my second Master degree at Georgetown University, but I was accepted into the program with my undergraduate GPA was 3.18. I have 10 years experiences in Information Technology Management, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and Master of Science in Telecommunications; I also served 9 years in the United States Marine Corps both active and reserve duties. I joined the forum to support my best friend, who I consider as my brother. He really wants to attend HBS (Harvard Business School) for MBA, so it is understandable to earn an undergraduate degree from a top school due to HBS admission is really competitive.

I just don’t understand why people have to earn a college degree from a well known college or university. A college degree is only worth if it has an ROI.

Good luck to you! Since you’re a Psychology major, ensure the program is accredited by APA; otherwise it is tough to get state license.

@maxwine you’re so right! i’ve been going back and forth with this and the nyu thread, and they’re insane over there! the nyu thread is so stressful that i actually find it relieving going to this thread lol.

^yes. you guys are all so encouraging! it makes the anxiety a little more bearable. :)

Hi all
I applied as a transfer from a community college for McDonough. I’m also a non traditional student - I work full time. Stats are - 4.0 GPA, honors classes, international background which is not really a stat but GTown does like diversity.
Reading all these acceptance posts and feeling so scared right now. Happy for everyone but nervous and scared. Does anyone know how the notifications are sent out? As they are reviewed or the best first?
I have been working hard and praying for this for a very long time…
