How important are SATs for transfers? I have 36 credits in college and my GPA is 3.94, my high school GPA was 3.96 (unweighted) and I was at least top 10% (I would say top 1% but they didn’t rank it like that), but my SATs were pretty bad (510 CR, 580 math). That was good enough to get me into my previous college but due to financial reasons (out of state) I had to stop attending and I’ve been working full-time for about 8 months now. I sent in 3 very good letters of recommendations from my professors and an additional very good one from my boss. I’m confident my essays are very well written.

As for the SATs, I wasn’t living in an English-speaking environment so I didn’t learn English until I was around 14 and I didn’t speak it well until my late teens. I think this affected my scores negatively (and I explained this on my essays and during the interview, which I think went really well).

My college curriculum consisted of 3 300-level classes, 3 200-level classes, and 6 100-level classes. My B+ was in Public Speaking, which is irrelevant to my major.

I already got into American University with honors, but I’m still waiting on the financial aid information, which is of utmost importance to me, as my EFC is $0…

Visited the campus again over the weekend and was reminded of the many reasons I really, really want to go here. Just a few more weeks of nervous waiting!

^ Sorry, no. I was on campus on Saturday and figured everyone would either be out of the office or busy with other matters. (There appeared to be some sort of Freshman tour or orientation that was ongoing.)

I’m hopeful that we’ll start hearing the first week of May. (Similar to last years thread. :))

It’s weird- if you look up gtown’s transfer rate the stats range from 7% to 25%… Has anyone on here spoken with someone in admissions or gotten what they think is the most accurate percentage? I know on the website they listed some really low rates but everywhere else they look higher. Eh, strange.

@RiedyZac000: although gtown’s webiste says decisions releases on June 1st, based on previous applicants’ experiences, we may start knowing the results the first week of May (actually it’s next week)

From what I’ve heard acceptances are sent out through email, with official letters following, and rejections are done strictly through snail mail. Anyways- just seems to be the trend with gtown.

oh? are they sent by email? for some reason i thought they were sent by mail, but i might be getting it confused with another school.

so i believe someone said we should start hearing within the next few weeks? ahhh i hope so! the waiting is awful. i just want a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ asap.

At least last year, they sent out the acceptance decisions through e-mail, titled “Decision Letter”, at various times, starting in late April. The e-mail included the letter, along with an on-line copy of the agreement form and other enrollment information. I got my decision April 29th, but most people did not get theirs until the middle of May. From what I’ve heard, when you receive it also varies on which school within Georgetown you applied to. An official paper decision does follow in the mail, but mine came towards the middle/end of May. This mail envelope will include a paper copy of the enrollment information and the agreement form to send back. Transfer credit evaluations came even later for me, on May 31st. Good luck!

Will you tell us your stats? Congratulations on getting accepted.

I’m not really stressed about decisions, just really excited. Having the thread to chat it up makes it fun.

If you don’t get accepted, just remember your unique value and talents - which has nothing to do with where you go to school - and that you can be amazing by making the most of every situation. The greater the obstacle, the greater the opportunity to grow.

Applied to SFS.
Last year went to an around 30 university according to US News, but in the honors program.
College GPA: 3.8 (at time of submission)
Extracurriculars: Not many, though a little research with professor.
High School: 1/300ish, 33 ACT, a good amount of extracurriculars.

If you want more information, ask, or send me a message…

Also, from what I read last year, SFS is normally the last school to hear back, but according to CC, i was first person to hear back last year and applied to SFS. Though a good amount of people heard back from the other schools before the next SFS person, if I remember correctly.

I was looking back at previous CC threads for GT transfers to kill time waiting (ha) & saw on the 09 thread that someone actually found out April 24th…if only this was still the case.
