@samseager5 @justliviglife Thanks! I’m super nervous!
Ah I hope they either come before or after the 15th because that’s my 18th birthday and I really don’t want any disappointments!
@maddyduv This sounds creepy, but I was looking at your replies and you’re a strong applicant; you got this! Also, remember that the EA pool is VERY competitive and under 1000 people are accepted (typically). Georgetown is one of the few schools where more people get in under regular admission than early:)
However, I’m SUPER nervous as well. The closer it gets, the slower it goes by!!!
@maddyduv Sorry, just to clarify, the point of my previous post was to basically say don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get in early. There’s always regular pool.
Regardless, I’m sure you’ll end up at a great school!
@letsgoooo The 15th is a special day for me too!! Good luck! I hope we both have great days.
does anyone know what time early action decision will come out on the 15th?
^ They mail them by regular mail, but international students get notified by email.
@dadshirts Decisions come by mail. They said applicants should receive their decision by the 15th, so it could very well come a few days before or after. I know a c/o 2017 student that got hers on 12/8 and another that got it on 12/21. Both from a southern state. It just varies.
By the way, the acceptance and deferral envelopes are the same size! The acceptance comes with 3 sheets of paper (I believe) and the deferral is one (I believe). I know the acceptance is definitely a few ounces heavier.
I’m only just having my interview next week. Will if impact my application at all? It seems very late
@justliviglife not creepy at all! Thank you for the encouragement it is so nerve wracking but I guess we just have to trust the process! Best of luck to you
The waiting is killing me! Good luck everyone!!
@dylanm47 At this point, yes it might impact your application. It shouldn’t, but it might.
hey everyone,
i applied EA and i feel like i have a pretty strong application with 1530 SAT, 3.96 unweighted GPA/4.2 weighted, decent extracurriculars with leadership roles (captain of 2 varsity sports, section leader and student conductor in top choir, volunteer work with Alzheimer’s patients, mock trial, lifeguarding over the summers) but i have two things that i feel could hold me back:
- my interviewer seemed very hostile to the idea of a music major applying to G’town, and so it was a little bit awkward because he kept asking me “why not business”-esque questions. i’m wondering to what extent his review of me will affect my chances
- my subject test scores are 760 math 2, 730 chem, and 700 US History. i know these aren’t bad, but they don’t match up with the rest of my resume because i didn’t put my full effort into them. do you think they will be enough to sway the admissions office towards deferring me?
@dadshirts I just called admissions and they told me that they mail them with the goal of everyone recieving then on or around December 15th. She said it varies and that some people may recieve them a few days before or after based on where they live.
@abb52300 Interview doesn’t matter that much. Subject tests are fine. They’re not going to sway them toward deferral. If it makes you feel better, I couldn’t even take them; albeit, I had a really solid reason.
Anyways, as long as your scores are in the 700s, you’re fine
Heyyy guys!!
I applied EA and am wondering if anyone knows how heavily Georgetown considers students’ resumes. While I am in the top 10 percent of my class and have taken all AP courses offered, my test scores don’t hit the middle 50% range and my subject tests are: US history and English lit: 690 and Spanish: 730, so I am really concerned that my scores will cause them to disregard my application. I do have an extremely strong resume and submitted an art portfolio, and my hope for getting admitted lies in my resume. What do y’all think? If I don’t have good enough scores will they disregard the rest of my application?
@laurenewton Georgetown, like many other highly selective schools, practices holistic admissions, which means they’ll look at all parts of your application before making a decision. Good luck!
C/o 2021 student here. Good luck everyone and remember that if you’re even applying to Georgetown you’re already pretty successful and talented. Deferral sucks but it doesn’t mean they don’t want you. Show interest afterwards and you increase your chances of getting in RD. Hoya Saxa!!!
@laurenewton As someone just said, Georgetown does take a holistic approach when it comes to admissions. I’ve heard this at every competitive school I’ve visited, so it kind of became a “broken record” phrase. However, after doing a summer program at Georgetown this past summer and talking to current students, I discovered Georgetown really does a pretty good job at viewing students holistically. If you had a low GPA, it would be a different story, but it sounds like you’ve got a good shot!
Good luck!
Hey guys! As Dec. 15th approaches, I’m getting more and more nervous, and although I can do nothing about it now, I am wondering: will an SAT II score of 640 negatively affect my application? I have 3 other scores of 750 Math 2, 760 Literature, and 710 Bio, but I took the U.S History test (which I got a 640 on) the day after I had 2 AP exams, and I also was not expecting the test to cover so many obscure events. So I definitely wasn’t prepared for it. Like I said, I know Georgetown has probably already made my decision by now, but I was just wondering what you all think. Thanks!
