General comments:

Georgetown is my absolute top choice and I am panicking until I hear back on December 15th!!

@2018meg as you said, your weakness is your test scores, but I think you have a good shot. Don’t stress so much. Decisions come out in about a month week, so just hope for the best and remember there’s always regular decision.

I would say your GPA May slightly compensate for the low test scores (not that they’re low in general, but for Georgetown), but I’m not sure how challenging your school is. Even though your school doesn’t rank (neither does mine), Georgetown can very well get an idea of where you stand based off this year’s applicants as well as previous years from your school. You can get a better idea of where you stand by looking at Naviance if y’all use that.

Good luck!

@2018Meg Did you take AP Calc last year?

Hi everyone! I also applied EA to the College and am anxiously awaiting the admissions decision. I am, however, currently out of the country and will not be able to receive the decision by mail. I read the earlier discussion on this thread, and was surprised that the uni doesn’t send decisions by email. Did you find this out by speaking to an admissions officer, or Georgetown students? What alternative would there be if we cant read the mailed letter?

“What alternative would there be if we cant read the mailed letter?” Presumably somebody at your US address could open the letter for you? If you put your US address on your application there is not much else that you can do right now.

@tmn2000 You can also call the admissions office after about two weeks and explain that you’re out of country. Georgetown only sends mailed decisions but the admissions office has been known to tell people over the phone if there are extenuating circumstances.

Hi everyone!! I also applied EA to Gtown. I’m so so nervous and know I will be deferred (they defer legacies like me). Does anyone know when they are released? Please let me know- the waiting is driving me crazy!

@dancelover123 Well, they come by mail, so no one can you give you a set date. You will most likely receive your decision on the 14-15. It depends on where you live. You could receive it anytime next week, however. There’s also the possibility that you’ll get it after the 15, however, admissions is aiming for applicants to get their decision by the 15.

I’m so nervous! I’m trying to think positively, but I’m just wondering, what should I do if I am deferred? Should I send another letter of recommendation? A letter of continued interest?

@tmn2000 In previous years, if applicants did not recieve their letter a few days after the deadline you could call and they will tell you over the phone. So if you call on monday the 18th they will most likely let you know, good luck!

@maddyduv Yes, show continued interest! I’m sure you could send a letter and continue doing things that will enhance your resume. I’m not sure how your SAT IIs are, but if they’re on the weaker side, you could always study for those to try to bring them up!

I wouldn’t stress until you know the results!(: Best of luck!

Hey guys, I was wondering if Georgetown has sent any emails since you submitted your application? I received a confirmation email once I hit submit, but I haven’t gotten anything since then regarding the application decisions. Is that just me or have they not sent anything?

@letsgoooo Nope. All decisions are mailed. You don’t check your status online; you’ve gotta find out the old fashioned way. You should know by the 15, but it could very well come a few days before/after(:

I know the decision is completely out of my hands now but I can not stop freaking out. I just checked many threads from last year and the majority of students did not find out until after the 16th at least, most likely due to the increased applicant pool. As a California student, I am pretty positive I will not receive a decision by the 15th :frowning: I wish I could get my mind off of this…

Nerves from Nevada as well. I think I may get deferred but one can only hope

@2018meg i’d say your biggest weakness if campaigning for Trump LOL! but I’m sure u will get in especially with the whole legacy thing. Good luck!!

has anyone received their decisions yet??!! Ugh am so anxious to find out!

@tmn2000 nothing from NJ yet! I’m super anxious too! I just want to know!

Nothing from NY. When do you think they mail them? I hope I get mine a few days early…
