Georgetown University Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

i wonder if they actually consider the interview in that time, because my interview was last week and if they send out acceptances sooner… whats up with that?

@hershey789 The first thing the interviewer told me was that the interview had little to no effect on my application so I shouldn’t feel nervous. I don’t know how true that is. I’m guessing people who are getting interviewed this late live pretty far where there’s less interviewers?

@m0ntecrist0 huh thats interesting. actually im shocked my interview was so late. I am currently in DC and DC is filled with Georgetown Alumni.

@hershey789 I live in Maryland so I’m relatively close to DC. It makes me wonder how they decide the order of the interviews. It probably doesn’t really matter if you’re interviewed early or late, but it just seems like a pretty random process.

@m0ntecrist0 Agreed, I’m in Boston and I was notified of my interview mid-March. I did submit my app two weeks early, so perhaps that had something to do with it.

i got my transfer decision in an email yesterday!

@transfer207 You did?! Did you have an interview?

yes! i had my interview at the end of march

@transfer207 Did you apply for financial aid? And would you mind posting your credits so we could get an idea of our chances? Congratulations too!

absolutely! i did apply for financial aid and would need a fair amount

i’m a freshman, currently at large in-state school, applied to georgetown college of the university

socioeconomic background: middle-class
ethnicity: bi-racial (asian, white)

college GPA: 4.0/4.0
high-school GPA: 3.84/4.0 (unweighted) - no class rank
SAT: 2210 (740 reading, 760 writing, 710 math)

activities: (college)
member of selective civic service engagement club
democrat club
amnesty international

activities: (high-school)
lots and lots of music things
leader/primary arranger of an acappella group
peer mentor
work experience

relatively strong recommendation from honors polisci professor

i think my essay conveyed a really strong argument for why i wanted to study the interactions of psychology and political science specifically at georgetown, and the difficulties i was having trying to achieve this goal at my current university.

i’ve never done this before so if i’m forgetting anything, please let me know. good luck to everyone!

@transfer207 Did you request for an early read?

@transfer207 Congratulations! Do you mind telling what time of the day did you receive the decision email? Thx!!

nope, didn’t request an early read and i received the email around 1pm!

Congratulations!

@transfer207 CONGRATS!! you sound incredibly qualified. I am jealous you no longer have to wait!!

I just called georgetown about the financial aid packages. They told me that they usually come 3-4 day after the decision notification.
I can’t wait for the decision! I think they are coming out May 1st.

The hype is real.

Quick facts before I get hit with a decision: 3.8/4 overall college GPA, Large State School, 2000SAT, President of College Republicans, Analyst in 1.7M AUM investment club, small business owner, I do freelance design work, FSAE finance officer/sponsor relations, can weld, have a real estate license, participate in case competitions, trying to transfer to MSB.

This is my second attempt at transfer, so we’ll see, I did have an interview, I had strong essays and a really strong letter of recc from a former IB guy who has seen me put over 500 hours into the Investment Club.

Cheers to everyone, and I hope we all make it

Got IN!!!

Oh my God this is making me feel so nervous. I feel like we could all get in!
@hopeful196 Congratulations! Do you mind posting stats?

@hopeful196 Congrats! What time did you receive the email?
