Georgetown University Regular Decision Class of 2019 Thread

i live in nyc and my friend just got accepted and he lives like five blocks away and I haven’t gotten a letter yet what in the world is going on?

Mail just came in Southern California… nothing. I guess Monday should be the day. Hopefully. Would you guys say that MSB is the most competitive school at Georgetown?

Central NJ just checked my mail. Rejected hahaha

sorry @rpp216. :frowning: Can you share stats? you can pm me. Thanks. I’m really nervous. Like you, I used to be confident about gtown. now I’m not so sure.

also, people who got any kind of letter, could you share your stats?

Ah! I’m so nervous! I bet I won’t get my letter until Monday, but I am still nervous yet excited.

@collegemomjam‌ I’ve been accepted to SFS and I haven’t gotten a call. I’m an American abroad…

So are CA applicants going to get their decisions by Tuesday at the latest?

Got my letter today in PA and I was waitlisted. I was actually quite surprised, as many people from my school typically go on to Georgetown, but oh well. I have a 2370 SAT, subject tests all in the mid-700s and above, although my GPA is probably my weak point (maybe 3.7 UW, 4.15 W). In hindsight, I probably didn’t spend enough time or energy on this app compared to the common app, and I should have. I don’t think I’ll accept my place on the waitlist, depending on whether I get into my top choice school this Tuesday. I guess Georgetown just wasn’t meant to be for me, and the way I look at it there were probably tons of people who were accepted who wanted Georgetown more than I did, so I’m not too bummed. Congrats to all of you who were accepted!!

For everyone who wanted to see my stats:

Rejected from GC (Central NJ)
2310 SAT
34 ACT
Didn’t send subject tests
3.9/4.0 UW GPA depending on how they calculate
School doesn’t rank (About top 5%)
Good ECs/leadership
National Hispanic Recognition Scholar
Good recs I think

If there’s anything else you want to know just PM me!!

Live in Ohio and haven’t gotten letter yet :\

@rpp216, thanks for the stats.
How come you didn’t send any subject test? Did you send subject scores to your other schools? Did your friends who are rejected send their subject scores?

Living in MD. Haven’t got letter yet.

This is really interesting. There seems to be quite a few higher scoring, and pretty qualified candidates being rejected.

I hope this doesn’t come off wrong, but do you think Georgetown is a school that rejects overly-qualified candidates because they see them suited for other schools to increase retention rate of acceptances? Their score range is below that 2250-2400 range that many applicants who have been rejected and/or waitlisted are in…

It’s seems like yield protection is happening a lot across many schools this year. It’s work both in my favor (Northwestern) and against me (U-M, UCLA). Hopefully it works for me with Georgetown.

No letter in SE Michigan yet, so I’m hoping for Monday. I’m doubtful that I’ll get in, but even if I did, financially I’m most practical to go to American U choosing from these two schools plus George Washington. I definitely feel like a lot of schools are doing the yield protection thing which is both good and bad for me…it was nice for merit aid at AU and GW, but not so great when UMich waitlisted me and my safety Michigan State U deferred me to the spring semester. I’ll just be thankful that I was not technically rejected from any schools (except probably Georgetown) even though I applied to 10!

@saarahg1‌ woah, you sound exactly like me, right down to the ethnicity. Our SAT scores are exactly the same! It’s like I’m looking at a girl version of myself. Your result does make me worried, though

@JoeGoe‌ I’m desperately hoping that’s what happened with my schools…

no log-in. you will receive the decision by mail. You need stand in front of your mail box the first thing on Monday morning. Good Luck!

I have ACT 35 , UW (3.8)GPA. SAT2250. still got wait list ! :-/

@cvisser96‌ There may definitely be something to your theory. When my S had his interview, the interviewer told him he was overqualified for GTown and that they would typically reject someone with his stats/resume (35 ACT, 2300 SAT, great resume) because they know since he did not apply early to Gtown that his first choice would be an ivy league. S had a good response about how honored he would be to attend Gtown and thought the interview went very very well.

We are still waiting for our letter here in NC, fingers crossed.
Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
