Georgetown University Regular Decision Class of 2019 Thread

waitlisted

Accepted to UChicago, WUSTL, Cornell (likely), & UPenn (likely).

Lol waitlist. That’s cute

Why can’t they just have accept and reject. This is actually ridiculous af it’s like they’re dangling it in front of our eyes but we can’t have it

Wouldn’t you prefer waitlist than nothing? I understand your frustration as I have been waitlisted at several schools myself, but I appreciate that they are giving us the chance of attending rather than rejecting those who might still have a shot and are qualified. @pianogeek

@suzy100 no they sent me a letter in early march telling me I got accepted

So people receiving it today should expect a larger envelope with brochures and information to come with the regular decisions envelope if they get accepted?

I’d rather be flat out rejected so I can be fully excited about the school I will commit to. @smartcookie333‌

@pianogeek - fair enough, everyone’s different

Rejected in MI. Not surprised, didn’t send subject tests, 32 ACT, 3.8 GPA, decent extracurriculars, major leadership but only in music, IB diploma candidate, glowing teacher and counselor recs, first gen college student BUT essays were good but pretty generic, obviously not a star student, and holistically Gtown was a pretty big reach for a white middle class female like me.

i got accepted to georgetown college of arts and science! i’m sorry to anyone who was denied, i know the feeling :(. i truly hope you find the school that is right for you.

sat (superscore) 2290
gpa: 3.9
i think what made me stand out was the rigorous course schedule i had at my new england preparatory school. I did two unique programs there, one being a science research program that gave me the chance to work at Yale neurobiology research lab. The other program allowed me to create my own course and syllabus for what our school calls a “directed study”.

accepted: barnard, colgate, wesleyan, tufts, ucla, boston college
denied: yale (ea)
waiting on: cornell, brown, columbia. good luck to everyone with the rest of the college process; enjoy senior spring!

Rejected. No hope for Ivy day tomorrow lol

This page has gone eerily quiet… :frowning:

it really is an admissions game…

my daughter 34 act, 710, 750, 750 on SAT2s, 4.5 gpa, great interview, president of everything in her high school, tons of community service got rejected from Georgetown today but accepted at Johns Hopkins (ranked higher and lower admissions rate) and waitlisted at Vanderbilt (11 percent admissions rate last year)

D is holding her letter to the light. Too scared to open. She thinks she sees PURPLE through the envelope…could that mean waitlisted? (sorry, we are chickens in our family!!!)

Yikes @actuaronerone1234 that scares me I’m a fellow JHU admit

got accepted in Ohio! 34 ACT, 2210 SAT, subject tests above 700, 4.0 GPA uw, 4.6 weighted. 8 APs, lots of honors, lots of extracurriculars, leadership
White female if that matters to anyone

D waitlisted.

aarruggh.

Those of you in the know, are most folks who applied EA (then deferred) also likely to be wait-listed? or does it have a true meaning?

Waitlisted! This might actually be my top choice, even with Ivy Day tomorrow. I just love D.C. so much, and since I want to study law, it’s honestly the perfect place for me. Fingers crossed.

35 ACT, 2260 SAT, 4.5 weighted, 9 APs, president of law/politics club, singer, volleyball team, some volunteer work, x-ray vision

lol x-ray vision @Marisa58

“x-ray vision”

Head back there for law school @Marisa58.
