Hi! I'm at a crossroads!

I want to major in communications very much! I would love to go to Georgia Southern but my parents are making me go to Agnes Scott and they don't have a communications program.
My dad says that Georgia Southern is just a place kids go because they couldn't get accepted anywhere else and that the campus is ugly? is that true GSU students??
I want to tour it so bad but my dad won't even let me.

I don't want to go t Agnes Scott at all and I have no idea what to do?

also, is Kennesaw State a good school as well?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Well, GSU isn’t a good school overall… only 20% students graduate in 4 years, many get distracted by the bars by the dorms. It’s not really academic. It’s a good place to go if you haven’t been admitted to UGA, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Georgia College, or the good private universities in Georgia, but don’t want to go to community college. It can be worth it if you got into the Honors College and the College of Engineering. Supply Chain Management is supposed to be good, too. But it’s all relative. If costs were equal, I wouldn’t turn down Georgia Tech for GSU…
For communication, I’m not sure why you’d want to go there. How would you get internships (which are pretty much the ONE thing you need to find a job in that field - without it, forget finding a job, you will NOT work in the field of communication just because you have a degree that states that was your major).
Of course you can be honest and say “I love the idea of going to bars while underage, I don’t expect to graduate in 4 years anyway, and I love mosquitoes”. :D

Be aware that “Communication” is often seen as a “soft” major unless the university has a specific strength in it (which GSU doesn’t). Typically you’d major in English or political science or economics and look for internships in major corporations, for which ASC is better positioned due to being near Atlanta.

Where else have you applied?

Why don’t you want to go to Agnes Scott, beside that your parents want you to?
