I hope to get into UGA or FSU, but I need backups too. I visited Southern, and liked the campus, but felt that some of the students might not have been the most bright (ex. thug-looking kids smoking on campus) which did not impress me. But overall the campus was nice. As far as State, I don't know how I feel about college in Atlanta, probably wouldn't be a full college feel, especially with basically no real campus. I have fairly good grades and want to feel that my hard work in HS has been worth it, so in your opinion Southern or State? (not sure of major yet, maybe criminal justice or business) AND if I went to these schools, I would be trying to transfer to UGA ASAP.

Also, I'm considering Mississippi State as another backup(would get in-state tuition, possible scholarship), maybe someone would recommend that over both Southern and State?

Thank You, and please only answer based on real experience or knowledge, not rumors.

Really? Seriously? LOL I’m amazed.

Anyway…need to ask…FSU is going to be expensive for an OOS student. Cost of attendance is about $35k per student.

How much will your parents pay each year? If they won’t pay FSU’s OOS costs, then how will you afford it?

*my best scores on the SAT were: Reading-520,Math-570,Writing-530. So a 1090 or 1620.

GPA 3.6 *

Are these your highest SAT scores from a single sitting?

Are you sure you’ll get instate at Miss St? They’ve removed their auto scholarships for stats.

Anyway…how much will your parents spend each year?

Yes I know the Thug description was strange, but they didn’t look like they belonged in an institution of higher learning.

As far as money goes, I plan to join the Army National Guard, the Florida and Mississippi Guard would cover/ or waive my tuition to in-state, that is why I am looking at schools in those states. They also offer my planned major, and seem like good schools, especially FSU.

Yes I know my SAT’s are low, but I have been practicing a lot for the October test. I have been getting better scores on the practice sections that I do 3-4 times a week. I am confident they will rise to mid 1100’s or maybe even higher (hopefully). Took the ACT, did bad, and deleted the scores, so none of the schools I’m applying to have those.

And I have raised my GPA even further to a 3.71, currently have mostly A’s and it should go up to around a 3.75 or higher after this semester before UGA reviews my application. I applied early for FSU, so the updated GPA won’t be seen, but updated SAT scores will.

You are considering a major in criminal justice and found a few “thug-looking kids” worrisome?

Did I say I was scared or worried about them? No, I basically said they made the college look bad. I go to a school where the white is the minority, and fights, gangs, and weapons are common. I’m used to people like that. Trust me I’m not worried about them, just what it says about the college itself.
