***Georgia Tech Class of 2020 EA Applicant Thread***

But my guess is you’ll see the status change in late December

To everyone who wants to know about the dec 1st doc deadline:
While they do accept the required docs by Dec 1st do know that they will not accept anything more than that.
I talked to my admissions counselor and was told that things like supplemental information will not be considered because they recieve so many applications

So it’s just required docs plus common app. Don’t know if anyone had the same situation as mine but it’s good to know.

Does anyone know the deal with the change (after September 2015) of ACT Combined English/Writing to ACT Writing Subject Test? Does GeorgiaTech consider them as one and only look at your highest? If you send ACT with Writing Score after September 2015, your scores look very different.

They’ll only use the highest subscores of every test you send them

GUYS URGENT!
Does your Sat 2 subjects show on the buzzport? Like does it say they have received it?
Cause College board sent mine on OCT 28th, and it does not say anything about my sat subjects being receieved. Only ACT scores are on Gtech!

@my2020 Don’t worry! GaTech does not look at SAT 2 subject tests for admission. Those are used as course placements after you are accepted. So you have plenty of time to sort that out.

@my2020 , it will take 3-5 weeks after collegeboard sends it out for GTECH to load up the scores. I was in the same situation as well. It took 3 weeks for them to finally load my scores

Okay so regarding the “under review” and “no decision has been made” – check out what a user from college confidential had to say:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgia-institute-technology/825088-how-long-is-an-application-under-review-for.html

Some user asked about when the application status will change from under review to the next step. Another user replied saying :

Today my status switched from “under review” to “accepted”. I think it took mine about a week, maybe a little less, though I didn’t see exactly when it changed from nothing to “under review”. You might just have to wait until right around Dec. 16.Keep checking though, because I haven’t gotten an email or anything yet confirming acceptance - it shows up first on buzzport

Now. assuming that this guy isn’t lying- I think that will happen to us as well around December 25-30th. In 2009, they released decisions around Christmas time, so a week before would be dec 16. In our case, a week before Jan 9th, is around Christmas time. So lets hope we find out through buzzport first.

Now this is also assuming that to confirm acceptance, GTECH sends out an email or letter in addition to buzzport. If buzzport is the ONLY way to find out admission status, then of course all of the above is false and we will find out on Jan. 9. This is because to send out an email or letter, GTECH will have to use buzzport as an “email generator” since all of the information is stored on there. And in order to that, they will have to open up the information for buzzport (make it visible to others).

This is all my thoughts/theory btw…

Because their site says decisions will be released ON January 9, and not BY January 9, I tend to think they are all released on the same day at the same time. I think that’s what happened last year, which is probably a better go-by than anything in 2009. I know we are all impatient, and speculation does help pass the time…and I think decisions aren’t on buzzport, but are first on the mydecision site that had the glitch a few weeks ago (the one stating decisions would be available 11/2). A week early would still put it in early January.

@my2020 SAT IIs WILL show up on Buzzport once they receive them (mine do). I’d contact GT and make sure everything is okay.

@s16s18s21s25 , I agree completely with you. I was just throwing out a thought of possibility.

@s16s18s21s25 , I agree, speculation about the admission release date helps to pass the time. But I don’t believe there’s much chance of the decisions being released before January 9. I think the pattern will be much more similar to what happened last year than in 2009. Last year decisions were to be released at noon or 1:00pm (I can’t remember which) on January 10. They were posted on Buzzport about 10 minutes before the designated time. I remember how very hard the waiting was(my D is a first year at GT), but I believe they really do take time with each application to review it thoroughly. And that’s a good thing, but it does take time. Best of luck to everyone!

Hey guys, I have a quick question on college. When you use score choice, does the college receiving the score know that you have used score choice? My friends were arguing over it this morning, one said that they do while the other said they don’t.

@Xboxgamergirl as far as I know, there’s no way for colleges to know for sure

anyways my status changed to file under review… even though i know the decisions probably won’t come out until Jan 9, I’ll probably be checking my buzzport every day
[-O<

Ikr, mine recently changed as well. My university of ga status page is locked as well because they already entered the decisions, and so no one is allowed to see the status until Nov 20!!

College apps must be the most stressful thing. Everyday I wake up, I realize that I am a day closer to Jan 9.

I was thinking, if we make it to gtech, we should carry boards with our CC user names!

If it makes you feel any better @Bizziee, gtech got a little over 15,000 applications for EA. (thats the first thing you get in your email when you try to reach out to your gtech counselor-even they r trying to stress me out)

To be honest if you think about it-thats not that much. Hypothetically speaking, that’s about 3 students per school throughout the us. (if you evenly distribute the # of applications)

@Xboxgamergirl You are right! Just checked the UGA my status portal and it is locked! It does not seem UGA has the official class of 2020 thread, shall we start one?

@sunbeams I’d be game for that! I’m surprised there isn’t one, considering decisions are like 3-4 days away

@ismitah Let’s create one then!

Would you have to honor to start one? I’ll second it!
