***Georgia Tech Class of 2021 EA Applicant Thread***

@laviedemoi99 The fact that Tech could have already denied me makes me uncomfortable…

@laviedemoi99 Dont worry, you’re in state. You are gonna be fine. I bet you are gonna get in  .

@JHwang29 Are you in state as well?

@indy101 Thanks so much! You and @JHwang29 will be fine as well!

@indy101 nah im out of state

I am getting more nervous after reading this forum. xD

@indy101 Okay then

Does getting an email about filling out the CSS profile and the GT fin aid application mean that you’re technically in? I don’t understand the point of tech needing all this info if they were to deny someone.

Hmm maybe its to see who needs aid versus who doesn’t to help sway their decisions on admissions? Thats my guess

@tess1228 That’s kind of what I was thinking. I was going to fill it out, but I’m going to need a lot of aid, so I decided against it.

@brilliantmind101 @tess1228 Those emails are sent to anyone who has not completed their financial aid application. I get a reminder every week so I’m pretty sure it’s an automated email.

@brilliantmind101 when did you receive the email asking you to fill out CSS etc?

this wait is killing me aghh. Wish they would release decisions tomorrow

@brilliantmind101 @tess1228 Yeah the OSFA told me in an email that they are automatically sent to those who have not completed certain things that are marked as required for them in their system.

For any international people, did you apply for any financial aid? And/or do you expect some merit based scholarship?

@e2187s wrote “I was going to fill [the CSS profile] out, but I’m going to need a lot of aid, so I decided against it.”

If you don’t fill it out, you don’t get any offer of aid from the school. Period. You decided not to fill out the form for aid because you need aid?

I see a lot of discussion on CC about whether or not schools consider your aid need when doing admissions, and the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT. They are different departments. What’s more, it is actually illegal for them to make admissions decisions based upon your ability to pay (that would be discriminatory, and GT is a public school so they get audited for this sort of thing all the time). Kids, please stop lying about how much aid you need (or just pretending you don’t need any) because you think it will up your admissions chances. It won’t! All it does is put you in a position where maybe you get accepted, but now you can’t afford it because you didn’t follow the protocol to get the aid you need (and might even be entitled to).

@yankeeinGA I meant since it’s due the last day of this month, I was going to wait, as it’s not of the highest priority before decisions come out. Sorry, should have clarified. Lol.

For instate students, if we do the FAFSA, will that automatically consider us for HOPE or Zell Miller? Or must will fill out that other from the state for financial aid (don’t know name of top of my head)?

Has tech ever released early?

@laviedemoi99 99% you are, but I’m not sure if any supplemental information/applications are required. CSS is required for GT though.

@laviedemoi99 @e2187s CSS isn’t required for HOPE or Zell Miller. It is only required if you want scholarships or grants from GT that require financial need as a criterion

Lol the only thing that is distracting me from thinking about decisions is my school work xD
