@mylast – that’s great news! Congrats!! Are you required to go to Atlanta or just want to visit as part of your decision process?
Thank you! The trip is part of the decision process. We had written it off because his admission came with no monetary award and scholarship is an important of our, and most people’s, decision. It was the only college he applied to that we did not visit. He applied kind of last minute because he liked one of the emails they sent him so we don’t know much about it. At this point it’s the best scholarship offer he has gotten so it is worth the trip. He will be a Chemistry major.
@mylast If you visit try to stay in the Georgia Tech Hotel at Tech Square. You can get a discount code from the admissions website. Also see if your son can spent the night with a student and visit his potential advisor as well as labs etc. My DD did that and it helped confirm her decision for Georgia Tech. Congratulations on the scholarship.
Itsv, thank you so much for the information and the congratulations. This whole process is a bit overwhelming. My S has been accepted at four schools and is waiting to hear from four more. We don’t qualify for any type of aid so the scholarship portion is important if my husband ever hopes to retire. He is our third and final although we are lucky that our middle D is on an athletic scholarship and loves where she is. I can’t wait for the moment when, like your D, the decision is made.
Hey guys I need lucky enough to be a semifinalist for Stamps and according to the timeline, finalist status will be announced tomorrow but it does not say where- does anyone know if we should expect an email/ when it may come out?
By 5:00 pm tomorrow, I suppose email. Best of luck!
@SincererLove thank you!
Has anyone gotten SPS email yet today
Whts SPS mail
Re Stamps — I think the notifications went out - my son did not advance though he is an “alternate”. Good luck to those waiting for STAMPS notice!
I also did not advance to the finalist round for Stamps.
Proud mom of finalist from PA.
Just three days after learning I did not get finalist in Stamps (see two posts above), I was notified that I have received the Dean’s Scholarship. I guess they were likely waiting for finalist results. This scholarship gives me in-state tuition (I am out of state). It does come with a few strings attached (3.0 GPA, must stay in college of sciences, must join a living learning community) but I am overjoyed to get it. This makes tech affordable for my family.
For what it’s worth, if you got an alternate spot, I think you have a good chance of ultimately being invited to the finalist round, when others drop out. My daughter attended the event last year, and it was clear that Tech made an effort to make sure they had a full slate of finalists in contention (whichw as 100 last year, and I assume the same this year?) It is such a great program; congratulations to all who make it!!
I am very excited to be a Stamps finalist, however I cannot find a schedule for the weekend! I will be travelling alone and really need to ensure I have transportation to and from the airport at the correct time and that I can tell my parents where I will be at all times (they trust the campus but worry about me spending time alone in Atlanta)…anyone have access to this?
Chance me please - Hey guys so I have a 3.833 GPA with a 1430 SAT (680R,750M) and 32 ACT (34E, 33M, 31R, 28S) I have completed 12 AP classes by graduation. My extracurriculars and essays were solid and geniune. I am at a disadvantage due to my class rank being low because of my uber competitive high school (300ish/700) Please let me know the probability of me getting admission!! I need something to calm my nerves. THANKS
Has any body rcvd a mail from gatech regarding updates
@emxplusb, call them and get the info you need. Don’t be shy. You don’t want to be unprepared, especially on your own. They will not think any less of you for asking, I promise.
@GoodGrief16 – thanks for your post. My DS is an alternate - no word as of yet about advancing to finalist round.
I think today is the deadline for finalists to confirm their participation in the March campus interview and Stamps finalist program.
@CA1543, I hope it works out for her! Once you make it to the finalist stage, there’s a really good chance of getting the scholarship, from what I observed. Not everyone that receives the scholarship ultimately takes it (my daughter was in that group; what a painful decision that was, because the Tech program is really incredible), and they offer the scholarship to others once those initially chosen decline. And, at least last year, all Finalists received the equivalent of the Dean’s scholarship, which is huge in itself.
