I am not totally sure about what major I will end up in but im leaning towards some sort of engineering or POSSIBLY computer science. I want to combine my love for math and science (particularly physics) with technology which is clearly growing quickly in our society.
I have been accepted into both schools. I live in Georgia so I get the Zell Miller scholarship for GT which covers all tuition. I can afford UW because of my financial situation - either way, I will graduate without debt.
What is important to me when considering each school: location, career options, and rigor. I personally prefer to go out of state but would be happy staying in Atlanta and exploring it some more. I want to have a degree that stands out when I graduate and am searching for a career. And I am a good student so I will work hard to do well, but I want to be able to have a social life and be balanced with my academics and not feel overloaded (something I somewhat worry about for GT because I have heard of how difficult it is, especially because I will be surrounded with SUPER NERDS who are really really good at what they do and I feel like if i am keeping up with them, i will be working so hard i will be unhappy). The disadvantage of UW is that admission into a major is separate from admission to the actual school - i know admission into computer science major is difficult but i dont know how difficult. The rankings of the schools isn’t as important to me as how I will fit in there as a student.
I am somewhat stuck - both schools are tied to large and flourishing cities with many job opportunities and I am afraid to make the wrong choice and miss amazing opportunities!
HELP and give me any insight/advice you have!!
