Squirrel888 - Your SATs are fine, it will probably come down to GPA and math/science grades. GT's average SAT is 1336.

Well, as far as gpa, I dunno how gatech calculates gpa, if they give a 4.0 for every semester you get an A, and don't include freshman year grades, and don't weight grades, then I have a 3.75+. As far as math/science grades, I have made A's and B's, only problem is I made a C for one semester in algebra 2, but that was freshman year...would they count that? Every grade in math after that is an A. Thanks

One C is going to drastically hurt you, really badly at least...especially since I'm assuming you pulled the final grade up to a B and Algebra II freshman year is usually an honors class.

Your post doesn't make sense, u mean it wont hurt me? Yes, I pulled it up to a B.

One C certainly will NOT drastically hurt you, especially if you have brought your grades up over the years. Colleges like to see improvement, it shows signs of maturity. I'm not sure if they ignore freshman year grades or not. If you are above a 3.5 overall and your math/science grades are fine I'd say you are okay. How high in math/phys did you go? Did you take AP Calc/Stat etc? They'll like (insist) on that, the first Math class you take here will be Calc 1 at minimum, those who take AP start in Calc 2.

Actually, my grades have gone up quite a bit. My rank has improved by almost 100 spots in just 2 or 3 years. After alg 2, I took honors precal, making an A, and IB math methods, making an A as well. I am currently in IB calculus BC. So I'm assuming this will be fine?

Also, anyone know how gatech calculates gpa?

Ha...how about that nonsensical post?

I was trying to say one C in a math course freshman year would not significantly hurt you...for the reasons in the previous post

biomed33 : where are you?? what is the news??

Sorry, I have been really busy! I am in! I was told that I should be receiving official letter any day in the mail.

Accepted To Ee! Yay!

Half of the kids at my school who applied have gotten their acceptance packets (all were accepted, btw). I'm just fretting about mine, because I think I'm on the border, but some people with fewer credentials than me got in.
1280 on my SATs (680M/600V) but for ACTs, I got a 31 Math, 32 English. I have a 3.72 GPA unweighted and I'm in the top 10%...top 5% if my GPA is weighted. I'm taking the hardest courses my school offers as well.
I've done tons of band events and won numerous awards, I've done Math team and Sci Olympiad and won a couple of awards...Beta Club. Community band and orchestras...does anyone think this is good enough? I'd appreciate your input.
Oh, and I'm a hispanic female, if that helps any, going for ChemE.
