Hey guys!
I am currently a Sophomore Business student at Georgia State University and I plan to transfer to Georgia Tech next year for Spring semester. I applied in Fall 2015 before and got denied. I recently submitted my transfer application.
My Current GPA 4.00 (GSU scale)
Math/Science GPA 4.00
Degree: Business Admin.
Major: Marketing
ECA: Volunteer in many societies. Captain of my GSU’s Indian Dance Team.
Asian, Female.
Do you think I have a chance? I heard it’s hard to get into GaTech and I’ve heard people with even a 4.00 get denied. Also, does anyone know if the Spring transfer is based on a rolling decision?
Thank you!
If you’ve taken the required courses, including English 1 & 2, Calculus 1 & 2, and two science courses with labs, you should be fine. http://admission.gatech.edu/images/pdf/Transfer_Course_Reqs_Aug_2016.pdf
Thank you for your help! I really hope I get in.
Hey guys,
I applied for AE in the SOE. I have a 3.71 gpa and I have participated in NASA’s community college aerospace scholars program. What is a good transfer GPA that is competitive. I also go to a tough community college who usually send kids to iviy’s. So i dont think my gpa is inflated. Do I have a good chance? I also turned in my application very early so will I hear back in the beginning of the rolling admission?
I think you have a pretty good shot. Looking at your grades and stuff I don’t think you should have any problems. I am also applying for spring 2017 but I am applying under RETP. I have an overall 3.63 GPA and 4.0 Math/science GPA. Best of luck to you.
Major : Mechanical Engineering
Awesome. Including this semester, I’m transferring in 53 credits. Is that too low? Im currently a first semester sophomore.
Also, when do you think we will hear back? I hope soon. I know November 1’st is the decision day but i’ve heard of people hearing back mid-october.
On their website, it says Nov 1st, but it would be great if we get decision mid-October. The only problem I have is that on their website it says you should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA for each admission-required sequence course. I have a 2.0 for English 1, but I have a 3.0 in English 2 I don’t know if that counts in my favor or against me.
Hey, if it says that you “should have” a 2.0, then you can maybe fight for credit. As long as they dont specifically say that it’s mandatory, you still have a chance to transfer that pre-req.
Thanks! Yeah I’m just worried cause my SAT scores are low. I hope they don’t consider it too much though and I wish they would give us a decision sometime this month, i’m dying to know lol.
Also, do you guys know if transfer students get any merit-based scholarships or anything to pay for tuition?
Good luck guys!
I think they do merit-based scholarships.
I have been checking buzzport everyday and recently the system was down. Its up now but still no decision. The anticipation is killing me haha.
Also, why did you even send your SAT’s in? Do you not have above 30 credits?
I tried checking on their websites if they provide merit-based scholarships for transfers, but I couldn’t find anything. If you guys have info regarding that could you tell me?? Thanks
And I have nearly 60 credits, but they asked for my SAT scored so I had to submit them in.
I just called them and they said that they do not do rolling decisions anymore. So I guess we have to wait till 11/01
Why do you think you were Denied?
@Andyboy112. Congratulations on being accepted into Georgia Tech. I am a high school senior planning to transfer from UGA, preferably after my first or second year. In the GT’s Transfer did they not ask you for SAT scores? And what was your SAT scores? So that I can get a gist of what my scores should look like.
