I would like to apply to Georgia Tech for Biomedical Engineering either for Fall 2014 or Spring 2015. I currently a freshman at California State University Long Beach with a GPA of 3.7. In high school I was valedictorian with above a 4.0 GPA.
I have all the necessary classes in order to transfer, except one: English composition. I took two AP English courses in high school and therefore did not to take English when I got to college because of the AP credits (3s on both exams). What will Georgia tech think of this? All my grades for the engineering courses such as math and physics are really good. Is it a waste of time and money to apply right now without having taken English composition classes? What are my chances if getting in?

Pretty sure if you got credit for english 1 and 2 on you’re transcript; you’re good. Even if your AP credit wouldn’t have gotten you credit if you started there. I am looking for where I read that but I can’t find it. I’d call them to confirm- but I can say with like 95% confidence because I am in your situation (decided against applying to GT but was considering).

I can confirm what chemistryking said. I recently asked their admissions department about the same thing. They said as long as you get credit for it at your current school, it transfers to the needed course at GT, and it’s on your transcript you’ll get credit for it.
