Do people really think that there is a meaningful difference in prestige between Cal and GT? An extremely marginal increase in prestige is really that big of a deal to make Cal >>>>> GT? I mean, GT is top 8 or above in every single one of its engineering disciplines.

If you’re an engineering major, paying OOS tuition for Cal over instate+HOPE for Georgia Tech is…unfathomably stupid. Meaningless assumptions of prestige are not worth upwards of $100,000. And if you’re an engineering major, narrowness is a good thing. GT is devoted, financially and spiritually, to your type of degree. That is good.

Of course Berkeley >> Gatech.
Hey guy~~~ Another Chinese like me~?
Okay if you feel Berkeley is not good, its just a matter of first impression and often times first impression is not everything. Chances of personal attention just vary from ppl to ppl, and it means that you have to seek chances.
Berkeley is certainly a lot more comfortable to live in. After studying in Berkeley for some time I dk you could probably have a whole new impression based on the living experiences there.
So just first impression is just a feeling, not everything.
Gatech is not very high ranked than Ber and of course, the intended field is much more important a factor to consider than other ones. Moreover, Berkeley would have much more opportunities and programs and activities, so that the personal attention stuff is just negligible in some way.
Good luck!! If you choose Gatech in the end, don’t feel that u’ve passed a opportunity. Both are good tech schools.

Am I being trolled here?

Coming from a girl who’s had to work almost 30 hours a week at a minimum wage job, trust me nothing in the world could justify the expense of tuition at Berkeley to me !!

I applied to both tech and Berkeley and I was accepted to tech and I’m definitely going there! I just wanted to see if I could get into Berkeley, to be entirely honest. But for that little difference in ranking, there is no way that much money is worth it.

I’ve never heard of people having an edge in terms of grad school or jobs, although I might be wrong on this. And you’re paying so much more money to potentially not graduate in four years and have no edge when you eventually do? It just doesn’t make much financial sense to me. College is a huge investment, so I’d say money should be a huge factor too!!

Just my .02 of course and I super agree with kamelakhbat !!
