Georgia Tech vs University of Texas Honors

So today I received acceptance off the waitlist at GT... and this puts me in a dilemma...

From GT all I know is that I've been accepted, and I have very little time to decide on attending. Academically, it's an excellent school, albeit mostly focussed in engineering. I most likely will not receive too much financial aid, due to the fact that I was taken off the waitlist (I won't know exact numbers until I accept the offer...).

From UT, I was accepted into the Engineering Honors Program, and offered about $18k a year in scholarships and grants. I'm an instate student, so it's not all that far from home, and a ton of friends from my HS will also be attending UT. Another thing UT offers is a Business Foundations degree from McCombs, and I could not find something parallel in GT.

From what I see, UT is a bit worse school academically in engineering, and it is fairly strict when it comes to switching majors and things like that. At GT, the lady who I spoke to said I can pretty much switch to any major right now without it changing the decision. I had been accepted into UT in Aerospace Engineering, and into GT as Undecided Engineering, though I'm not certain on my choice in Aerospace.

So, I would like to have your opinion on the matter. I know eventually it's my decision, but hopefully someone will have something insightful to say on the matter :).

GT does has something similar to business foundations. We have a Technology and Management program which allows engineering students to essentially minor is business. However, admission to this program is competitive. You can also pursue certificates in any of the business fields at Tech.

The difference in academic quality isn’t much, if any. Both UT and GT are top engineering schools, UT’s Honors Program is exceptional, and you will be able to attend UT for a great price. Unless GT offers you a comparable financial offer, I would choose UT, but only you can decide which school is right for you.

Good luck!

GT offers Technology & Management which is a business minor in addition to an engineering major. Tech also offers certificates in all of the major areas of business, so there are opportunities similar Business Foundations certificate at UT.

But considering the difference in finances, I can’t imagine turning down UT. It’s an excellent school.

Thanks for the responses about the T&M program.

I’m probably going to stick with UT, the financial pack GT offered was pretty disheartening :X.
