I found out on Saturday that I was wait-listed to Georgia Tech. Does anyone know how many people were placed on the wait-list this year ? Also, I applied as an architecture student. Because the architecture school is so small, do you think this decreases my chances? Finally, do you think I should email anyone, maybe the dean of architecture at Georgia Tech to let them know Tech is still my first choice school? I got a 1310 on the SAT and have about a 3.9 on a 4.0 scale GPA. I think my test score is my biggest problem. Thanks!!
Wow, so we have basically have the same test scores and grades! I have a 3.9 GPA and a 1320 SAT, but am a white male and applied for the Business School (but after the hurt that AP Econ is giving me I'm probably going to change hahaha).
To answer your questions:
1. I’m not sure of actual numbers for this year, but last year around 585 of 2,250 (a quarter) waitlist kids made it.
2. I don’t think applying architecture hurts you at all because most people who apply to Tech go for either Computer Science or some form of engineering, so having someone different is good actually
3. Lastly, Tech says that they don’t take interviews or any new material for the consideration of waitlist acceptance, rather they “will offer admission to students from the waitlist in an effort to shape our class to meet institutional needs and priorities”. I think that means they’ll pick it around majors and/or more Holistic elements rather than past high school academic achievements.
Anyways, best of luck!
Thank you and good luck to you too!!
I’ve got waitlisted too, as an International though. Don’t know if I stand a chance. I think it should be my SAT problem as well. I’ve got only 1460 on the new one. Is there anything I can do? Do you think writing a letter will make any difference? I just accepted NYU’s offer, but I wish I can get into Gatech so much. After all, my dream school.
Anyone from the waitlist heard back yet??
I just got a call and I got in off of the waitlist!
