I am a senior in high school. I've been reading threads and some people say it will be hard to get the classes you want as a transfer at UCLA because you are a transfer. Should I self-study for AP classes to raise my registration times, or is this really not a big problem? I am going to probably major in an area of philosophy, history, english, or anthropology. Will there be a problem for me when I transfer to get the classes I want? What are some ways that you could get Priority registration at UCLA or higher registration times. Thanks ahead of feedback.

you are in high school, and plan on going to CC and then transferring to UCLA?

Yes its a problem, but its not THAT bad, and it depends a lot on the specific class. Plus, you usually have an option of a few classes to satisfy one requirment or another. Having more units would up your registration time. Being a regents scholar or alumni scholar will also do it... being in UCLA honors will also. I wouldnt worry about this until I got into UCLA and spend a quarter there.

To expand on what Malishka31 said- definitely use the honors college. You just need a 3.5+ gpa to enter, which you will probably have anyhow if you're transferring. I get 10 units of priority enrollment, and it's incredibly useful. Just go to an honors workshop in the beginning of your first quarter and you're golden.

do you need to maintain your 3.5 gpa?

ehhh its reasonably easy to transfer with a sub 3.5 gpa, i did, as well as a bunch of people i know with sub 3.3 in fact. And they were mostly LS majors.
