Getting 2 W's to keep my GPA..worth it?

Hi, I am currently studying for transferring into UC’s (UCLA or Haas) from a community college in CA. I am a Business major, and have 3.96 GPA. I already have 1 W from my accounting class from last semester, which I am planning to retake and get an A. But my english 102 class that I am taking right now doesn’t seem like I can get an A from the course :frowning: People might say just one B/C will not hurt my GPA that much, but I really don’t want to risk anything since I have worked so hard to transfer to Haas…(plus I got a B from my Business class, which is sad…)
So, my question is… will it worth to get 2 W’s and retake the class in order to maintain my GPA? or just get a B and move on…
Also, if I have 2 w’s, will private universities think of it worse than they do at UC’s?

Thank you for reading

Well, a B certainly won’t kill you. You could always take a fluff class or two over the summer or an extra one in the fall to get an extra (or few extra) A’s to keep your GPA up.

I don’t believe W’s really matter.

W’s don’t matter. I got into berkeley with 9 W’s. As long as you have a decent explanation they won’t hurt you.

You started a second thread? You already said Haas told you to take the B. Don’t repost the same stuff.

@iampiakchu Ws do matter a lot in Haas if they are pre-reqs. A lot as in you don’t get in. He already has another W in accounting. Haas is different than everything else. This guy is set on taking the W despite being told by Haas not to. He thinks they’re playing a mind game with him. Not much you can do when someone’s mind is set.

it was a mistake. check the time… how do I delete this post?

Ah, OK, you can’t delete it.
