Getting a B bad for a major prep class

I go to a community college and I have would like to transfer to UCLA in Sociology, but I got a D+ on my first sociology exam dropping my grade down to a B-. The only two major prep classes in UCLA are stats and Sociology. I have a 3.7 g.p.a. How low are my chances of getting into UCLA if I get the B in sociology?

I believe there are 3 major prep courses for Sociology. How was your Stats course grade?
There is one more, which is Sociology 20 (Introduction to Sociological Research Methods)

My community college doesn’t articulate soc 20. I am currently taking stats right now i think I should get the A

I graduated UCLA as a sociology major- transferred from a CCC. Obviously donyiur absolute best in the rest of your semester in Soc 1. Ace Stats. If you end up with anything other than an A in both those classes (especially) Soc 1, take another Soc class next semester and ACE it! From my observations of transfers, even students who had GPAs under 3.6, most still got A’a in those 2 prerequisites. I’m not saying all is lost, I’m just saying kick it into high gear.

Also Soc classes at UCLA are no joke - they’re significantly harder than CC. Buckle down and get it together now, otherwise, even if you get in, you’ll struggle immensely.

@unknownaa3 Look into other CCs. They might have them as well. If it’s not like 10 miles away from your home, you should take it. Or if it’s provided via online, definitely take it. UCLA does take into an account how much you’ve prepared yourself in terms of major pre-requisites.

@2016Candles did you do anything else to prepare for your major when you were at CC? internships, ec’s, etc?
I’m planning on applying as a socio major to UCLA next Fall and I got A’s in both Socio and Stat but I’m trying to see what else would help me get in.
