Okay hello!
I have a very complicated problem right now! Please help me!
So, I am a senior in high school and I applied to 6 UCs, Cal Poly Pomona, and Occidental. I am a mostly A student (in a semester, out of 5 honors and AP classes I take, I would get 1 or 2 Bs. Ya I’m those type of student). I did get a C+ one time in AP chem in junior year. So ya
Now I’m a senior, and I recently just found out about my grades from first semester: I got a C- in AP Bio (I can explain)
So we never have homework in that class, no quizzes, no tests. The only test we took was a final (FRQs and MCs just like an AP test), and I got a 72% on the final. It wasn’t bad honestly because a 72% on an AP test is like a 4. BUT my teacher uses that grade for everyone’s semester grade bc we never have anything in that class.
this is a tradition that my teacher does since like 2003 and she changes our grades to A/A for 2 semesters if we end up getting a 5, A/B if we get a 4 and B/B for a 3.
So now I’m scared, bc what if my acceptance is taken away because of the C- and she can only change my grade late July because that’s when the office opens but I have to submit my transcript by July 1st to the UCs!!! So my transcript will have my C- on it! I’m worried
Will my acceptance get taken away bc it’s provisional? If I end up choosing an UC, Can I submit a corrected transcript after my bio teacher changes my grade???
Please! I know this is complicated but I need an answer! I hope you get what I mean
UC’s and Cal states do not rescind for C- grades, only D’s and F’s.
oh yea I read about that! But will I able to submit another transcript after my teacher changes my grade in early August ?
You should be able to submit an updated transcript but I would check with the school you end up enrolling to make sure.
Are you saying the teacher can’t change the fall semester grade till August (i.e. right before the new year starts) and not in June when she finds out the AP score? That seems a little odd, she should be able to change the grade earlier than that and not be locked out. Anyway Gumby knows all wrt UC and CSU so you’re ok as along as you don’t get a D or F. So your transcript would read C-/B for AP Bio if you got a 4 on the test?
My transcript would be an A for first semester and a B for second semester if I get a 4 on the AP test, after she changes my grades.
a 3 on the AP test would be Bs for both semesters and a 5 is two As.
My best friend took AP Bio last year and she got C-s both semesters but the teacher changed them to As both semesters bc she got a 5 but she was a junior when she took it so
It’s a strategy my teacher uses bc we would work super hard in order to get our grades changed. Her passing rate has been above 95% since 2005 and she has gotten 100% passing rate 3 times.
But AP scores don’t come out until first week of July and transcripts have to be sent in by July 1st. Idk anymore
I honestly regret taking AP bio senior year
Yeah, you have to explain to her your situation maybe more clearly, and bring in your GC or principal if needed.
Thank you! I talked to her yesterday (it was honestly frightening bc she’s a scary teacher in a weird way) and she said that she will change the grades for seniors in early April if we get a 4 or 5 on her mocked AP exam, so I guess I just have to work hard now to score a 5
That’s a really tough system
@gban2020 yea she has a rough system! But we kinda just have to go with it because we gotta appreciate that her passing rate is always above 95% I’m hanging in there
