I am a alumni from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics: Option in Environmental Economics and a GPA of 3.0. I graduated from there in December of 2004. After college, I worked a few seasonal jobs in the area but never really made the "big bucks". I held a job at The Salvation Army at minimum wage for a year while going to school at a local community college. I earned a Certificate of Completion for Account Clerk in 2006 and was hired by Walmart as a cashier in 2007. This was a step up from my previous jobs that were mostly manual labor.

Now 3+ years later, I still work at Walmart as a cashier at about $10+ an hour. What puzzles me though is, why am I still working at Walmart at such a low pay scale with my degree? Do I need to move to a much bigger city to make money? (I live in a town of 6000 and work in a similar sized town too) How are the foreign jobs like teaching English in a foreign country for example? Oh, I live with my parents at age 30 too due to the economy and the way the cards were dealt to me. Any supportive comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sincerely,
