Getting a LoR from a teacher in your intended major?

I would like to major in statistics/math with the intent of going into finance. Do you believe it’s advantageous to obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher who teaches the subject I plan on majoring in (in this case, my AP Stats teacher) given that they know me fairly well and I’ll be taking a class with them next year (senior year) as well?

I have several other STEM teachers in my mind who can provide me with a LoR but it seems advantageous to get one from a teacher who’s teaching the subject I plan on majoring in… Any thoughts?

I think it is a good idea if it will be a good rec and the teacher knows you well. But I don’t think it is a deal breaker to get one from a teacher not associated with your major, either. Colleges know students change their majors all the time. You don’t need to have your life mapped out to get admitted.
