Getting a teacher to change a grade?

Have you guys ever done this? I just recently did this about a week ago and I am starting to get worried.

I just took AP Calculus AB and my teacher gave me a C. I asked for my final grade, and he said that my final grade as a 554/700 or a 79.1%. Of course I pleaded with him to change my grade.

As justification for changing my grade, I showed a sharp improvement in my test scores and did extremely well on a project. The only bad thing about the project was that my group members didn't do too well and it brought my grade from a 100 to a 90. If I was to get a few points higher on that, that would narrowly secure my "B".

Anyways, I confronted my teacher about my grade and he said that he will change it to a B. The only thing is, he hasn't done it yet. School ended two weeks ago and my grade is still a C. I am starting to get worried. Should I ask him about it again? I don't know when grades will be finalized and I want to take his word on the matter, but school starts up in two weeks and that one C is hurting my GPA. I want to email him again but I don't want to be annoying. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I just sit tight or email him? Has anyone been in this situation before? Thanks guys. I know this sounds petty..... but whatever lol.

Id definitely email him. You wont be bugging him or anything. He promised to change your grade, and hes not going to deny you that B. I was in a similar situation last year when a grade is one of my classes was a mere 2 points away from an A. I emailed the teacher and he gladly put in a few extra credit points to raise my grade. Best of luck to you, hope it works out well.

just another thing- at my school my friends have heard teachers say that they can’t change grades now that the semester is over when I know for a fact that isn’t true.

Projects…In math???

since when…

That is what I am afraid of happening. I have had all A’s and B’s during high school and I don’t want this one C on my transcript. But since school starts up in two weeks, I figured I had time and I don’t want to stress it too hard yet. But I am certainly starting to worry; especially since he said he would do it and hasn’t done it yet.

Thank you both for your responses. I think I am going to wait till New Years before I email him. He could be on vacation somewhere.

Our project simple - help reteach the class a subject we learned during the semester. The teacher broke us up into groups and assigned us a topic. It was a good way to review for the final.

For example, a group topic was limits. They had to reteach the class limits while offering some advice on how to approach different limits.

My group topic was Integration. During our presentation, we tried to demonstrate how you can solve an integration problem using many different methods. The only problem was, my group brought up pieces of paper that showed the steps they needed to take to solve the problem. If that wasn’t bad enough, they didn’t even explain what they were doing. They simply wrote down the steps. If that wasn’t bad enough, all four of us got completely different answers! I explained everything while using no help and got the correct answer. I was so ****ed off and so embarrassed. I was not a happy camper.

That is why I am so dead set on getting my grade changed. I know I should of done better throughout the semester, but my group doing better could of got me a “B”.

Id advise to be assertive with it. He might have a private email account in addition to his school email, and he might not really be checking his school email over break. Even if he has a Facebook, you could message him on there about the grade (dont request him as a friend though). That should guarantee you a pretty direct and immediate response.
