How hard is it to get a job on campus if I’m not in a work-study program? I only can work weekdays as well do it would have to be late hours after class
It would depend o the school and the area. In some places, it is difficult, in others it is easy. I work 15 hours a week, on campus, M-F, 3 hous per day in the school library. This meant I was busy on campus for 30-35 hours per week with just work and classes.
Since this is posted in the FSU forum, I’m guessing that they would want to know specifically about FSU…
Thankfully, not all on-campus jobs require having work-study to obtain. Granted, there are some jobs that only work-study recipients can have but I know that isn’t the case for all of them.
As for how difficult it is to get one, I really couldn’t tell you. I know that one place that seems to have some openings for non work-study students is Crenshaw Lanes, the campus bowling alley.
The good news is that there’s a lot of potential right along campus where you can find part-time work. Tennessee Street has literally dozen of places that you can walk to in about 5 minutes for work.
You will have a fair amount of studying to do during the week, too. You would be better off looking for something that will let you have one weekend a month off for the boyfriend visits you talk about on your other thread. And it is nuts to need a campus job to pay his rent (also from other thread) – if he is any kind of guy worth having, he should be paying his own rent. If your relationship is meant to be, you don’t need to see each other every weekend, or have your own places. You would be best off to focus on getting your degree, and hopefully he will do the same over the next few years. In the long term your lives will both be better if you do. I am not saying break up, but I am saying don’t pretzel your life around for weekly visits.
