How tough to find a job?

Hey,

I'm an incoming freshman, and a big concern for me is employment. Ideally, I'd like to work between 10-20 hours a week while being a full-time student.

How tough is it to find part time employment, or any employment at all, on or off campus? Any tips?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lykathe

A colleague of mine told me that Wal-Mart is always hiring and there is always a job available there for students.

Didn’t tell me about other opportunities though.

any other input?

Realistically speaking, i don’t think its particular EASY to find a job around town. It really depends on what your looking for.

FSU offers a student Career Center. They will help you formulate a good resume, and will help you get your foot in the door to many part time job listings. It’s the building right across the street from the on-campus diner.

Jobs in restaurants are easy to get. My daughter has friends who are cooks, waiters, waitresses. They make good money and had no problem finding a job. The choices are larger if you have a car. She knows students who worked the Chili’s on campus as well as the Park Ave diner. No car needed.
