Getting a Job at UF

Does anyone know if it is possible/hard to get a part time job at UF? (Not talking about workstudy). I thought I remembered reading something about this in a different thread but I cannot find it. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

It is possible to get a part-time job at UF, but most of them ask that you have workstudy. There are a few that don’t, but you have to be fairly proactive in finding them. You probably wanted a little bit more information, but I hope this helps!

My daughter found it quite easy to get a non-workstudy job this year. She applied for several on the student jobs website, and was hired for the one of the first ones she put in for. She is working in the Student Government Finance office. She has also gotten jobs for two of her friends in the same office, so it helps if someone puts in a good word for you. Not all jobs are even posted I think.

tzais01, is your D a finance or accounting major? I’m just wondering if major plays an important role in determining who gets which jobs.

SeanChris, she is a Finance major. It’s funny how she got the job. She applied for a position to monitor the SG computer lab in the Reitz, and the Finance office just looked through the pile of applications and took hers for the Finance office job. When they called her for the interview it was a little surprising that is was not a job she had applied for.
