My friend who also applied early to Penn said that last year some people got their early results on December 10th. did anyone else hear this? maybe it was a glitch or maybe he’s just making it up

b.s. 10char

I don't know about what did/didn't happen at Penn, but I know for sure that this actually did happen with Cornell ED one or two years ago. You can probably still even find the CC posts on it

10th sounds too early, but im sure some will be up around the 12th... thats happened before

what does "10 char" mean? i see it all over the place

10 characters-- because they dont let you post with out a minimum of "10 char"

I would say atleast half of the applicants are easy decisions. Some are auto admits for their legacy status and athletic ability to be recruited and amazing stats. Others are reaching too far, and adcoms know not to admit them (2.0s 1500s, say 'Penn State' in the essay). It is the other half where actual thought goes into the decision.

Would you say 1500s out of 2400 would be a cutoff?

easily... thats 500 per section... not even 50th percentile for the nation

I disagree, venkater. I wouldn't go as far to say one half are easy admits, even if they are legacies... however recruited athletes would fit into that small category.

when i said people who are easy admits by their legacy status, i mean people who have relatives attending Penn back when Ben Franklin was the President, or people with buildings named after them. Not people like me with a dad who went there for grad school and donate $0.

I don't think that fills up half the number of applicants though! I hope not because then they'd half to reject half of those people too.

Will they email us when our decisions our posted? I say this because it says on the decisions page it will.

They email you when our decisions are online, but not our actual decision.

Its not your actual decision until you get that nice piece of mail.

Just found a stat looking through some legit Penn stuff- 39% of legacys are admitted. So no, being a legacy does not even guarantee you a 50% chance of admit

I think that what he/she meant is that easy rejects and easy admits combined, make up 50% of the app. pool.... I think its too high but maybe 30% are easy admits and easy rejects combined. And those are the ones who could MAYBE get their decisions before.

I think 1-3 days of difference isnt that big deal... of course Im dying to know right now, but I have dreamt and pictured myself opening the letter or the online decision for years.

I called the admissions office today to check up on an updated transcript and they said that there are decisions still being made "right now."
