When will Penn release information as to how many students applied early decision? I’m dying to know. All the other Ivies (save Columbia) have divulged their information: 3% drop at Yale, 9% drop at Dartmouth, 10% jump at Princeton, 7.2% jump at Harvard, almost 7% jump at Brown, 0.4% jump at Cornell.

Is it logical to worry that more students applied than they had expected and they are simply overwhelmed? I feel like, for a school that receives comparatively few applications, there are tons of Wharton people on here. Anyone else feel that way?

yes it seems like their is a crazy number of wharton people...the '08 statistics show a drop in wharton ppl right? let's hope that trend continues...although since economy is going back up more people might be getting back into business interested reatled fields...if that makes a dif i duno... blah!

and dang... 10%/7.2% jumps at princeton and harvard?! DANG thats high...I hope we don't have something similar for penn!

on the contrary. it'll prob. stay balanced. the jump may have discouraged a bunch of kids who, prior to the new rankings, thought they had a shot.

rankings mean nothing though. There are some really great stories that show how trivial the rankings are...but i'll post them separately so we can beat Yale lol

Hmmm, 4000? That sounds more like the number of posts you'll have by the time decisions come out than the number of early applicants to Penn. Harvard only got 4,165 early applications, and that's non-binding. Princeton only got 2000ish...

Anyone else still waiting for that green postcard?

and his supervisor comes in and says, "Tell them that even if they donate a dollar, our ranking goes up." the guy says "What? how does that work?" Apparently, one of the factors going into US News' ranking is "number of donating alumni". Meaning if 2 people donate a buck at one school, and 1 person donates a million at another, the former is ranked higher. And I dont even really understand why that's a factor - people liked the school enough to give back money? or are so successful they can toss some money their alma mater's way? should that really be important?

oh yeah i got that. i'm still not convinced that they got my audio tape that was sent separately...and i'm debating if it's worth sending my 1st marking period grades

i got my green card the day before tgiving...told me i was missing my high school transcript and college counselour rec...so i was frantic all weekend and stormed into my counselours office monday-she called penn cuz she said she called them 2 weeks ago to make sure they got them and they said yes. penn said they were sorry, theyre overwhelmed with papers and they just have a big pile of documents on the floor but they havent gotten thru all of em yet and sent some of the green cards out neways, telling ppl(other ppl in my school too) tht they were missing stuff! how messed up is tht...its abad sign cuz itshows they must have sooo many applications! i would call if i didnt get my green card just to make sure they have everything
