Getting financial aid for University of Toronto as a U.S. resident?

Hi, I'm currently living in the U.S. (resident of Texas) but am considering the University of Toronto for my undergrad. I'm kind of concerned about the cost, though. Right now, only my mom has a salaried job (my dad got laid off around a year ago), so my family definitely would not be able to afford U of T without taking student loans (I definitely would not do that. I'd rather get grants or scholarships to go to a U.S. state school) or scholarships.

I know that university is even more expensive for international students. I have looked on the U of T website and see they have some kind of financial aid program called OSAP. However, I am only familiar with the U.S. FAFSA. Can somebody please inform me of how OSAP works?

Would an international student like myself be eligible for grants or merit-based scholarships? And often do those get handed out to non-Canadian applicants?

Thanks!

I have the same question pls could someone reply to this and by the way i am of indian origin.
