<p>Housing is done based on a lottery. You get the app about 2 weeks after sending in the deposit. The lottery consists of apps submitted by May 7th at 11:59. If you are not in the lottery, then your app will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.</p>

<p>I submitted my housing app two weeks after it came out and requested a single, which I got. However, it’s not a guarantee that you’ll get a single despite applying for one.
The actual time within which you submit the application doesn’t matter as long as it is before the deadline.</p>
