Housing...

I recently got my acceptance in the mail, but im not sure about how applying for housing works.... it says you have to send in the deposit and then they send you the information in march/april, but is there a way to get it before that ? or everyone must wait untill then regardless of when they send in the deposit ?

everyone must wait until then, regardless of when they send in the deposit. the first week of april, there is a lottery. you have a better spot in the lottery based on the date they recieve your deposit/housing application.

great, so i'll send it in right now.... thanks

Can you request a certain dorm? Which dorms are better than others. I am applying to school of kinesiology.

No you can't choose a dorm. The only way to "guarantee" a particular dorm is to:

Ask for all-female housing (Barbour, Newberry, Stockwell)

Ask for North Campus (I think they'd honor this request.)

Get accepted into a Michigan Learning Community (for you, maybe health science scholars - but you need to make sure it works with your major.) These are mostly on the Hill.

Get accepted into Honors (South Quad).

Apply to the Residential College (East Quad).

Apply to Martha Cook (female only)

For most people, it's the luck of the draw. About 1/3 of freshmen live on North Campus. Markley is a huge all-freshman hall on the Hill and another 1000 1st-year students are there.
