Getting in Ross Business School for international students

Hello everybody !

I will attend the University of Michigan next year, I got accepted two or three months ago and I am now ready to come !

So, given that I want to study business, the best thing to do for me would be to get in the ross school of business. However, I just took a look at the admitted people's stats and I am a little scared by what I read haha :D 3.92 GPA, English A, maths A Econ A !

Economy and maths are not a probleme for me, but english is ! How can an international student who never studied in English before get these marks ? :D

So, is Ross's admissions office more understanding with international students as far as the marks are concerned ? Also, I would really need some advicesfrom people who got in to know how to improve my chances to get in

Thank you very much for your help ! Bye !

You must be looking at preferred admits, those who got into Ross out of high school. The average GPA for normal admission is about a 3.7.

It goes more than simply GPA, in my opinion once your GPA reaches a certain cutoff marker it becomes less important. For example 3.7 might well be one, however what really gets you in will be essays and extracurricular. I know a lot of people who had higher GPA than I did but didn’t get in. They weren’t involved in any “business” related activities and wrote their essays in less than a week. I begun my essays two months earlier and had let many Ross students comment on it. My single piece of advice, have a thing that distinguishes you from the other competitive applicants. (I have a stock portfolio and had one killer extracurricular activity.)

The deadline for the preferred admission has passed now, so I will have to apply to attend ross after my freshman year.
Given that I am not familiar with the american educational system at all, i would want to have some infos about the load course if possible, In my high school, from 30 to 35 hours per week were imposed (we could not choose the courses we wanted). Is it more or less in america for the senior year ? And freshman year if any one have an idea ?

Thank you very much !
