Getting into CSU San Marcos/ Fullerton Undeclared

I applied to these campuses as nursing. I didn’t get into their programs. Can I still attend these schools and do their pre-requisites or are the pre-req’s just for the nursing students?

Yes, you can attend either university but as an Undeclared major, but you will not have 1st choice for pre-req’s courses needed for the Nursing program since students in these majors will get priority at these courses especially the science-based courses.

Here is CSUF’s requirements:

This is an from the link provided CSUSM Nursing:
ENTRY TO SCIENCE PRE-NURSING CORE COURSES AT CSUSM: Our Pre-Nursing Core Science courses are only available to our CSUSM students after a minimum of one year of attendance at CSUSM. Eligibility for entry to these science courses is based on GPA in the CSU Golden Four courses (GE Areas A1, A2, A3 and B4), per Impaction Criteria One for this Nursing Program. Priority for these seats goes to students entering these sciences courses in their Sophomore or Junior year at CSUSM. Seats in these courses are determined in June each year for the coming Academic Year. Extended Learning, at our University, offers most of these science courses on a regular basis for other students. Community Colleges also offer equivalent courses. For a fall entry to this Nursing Program, all Pre- Nursing Core courses must be completed by the end of the previous spring term.

I would contact an advisor at each school to confirm. You might also consider take the pre-req courses at your local community college and then applying for Nursing school.

So I can take the prerequisites at a csu and apply to a nursing school outside of California?

@tc: Yes, you can attend the university but depending upon major, you may not have 1st choice for pre-req’s courses needed for the Nursing program since students in these majors will get priority at these courses especially the science-based courses. Also you should look at OOS Nursing school requirements to make sure that the CSU courses fulfill them.

If I if I go to a community college, will I get the prerequisites I need for nursing program? Will it be difficult to get into those classes?
