I go to a public in-state college (Northern Arizona University) and graduate next year. My major is in International Affairs and I want to be a foreign service officer. I want to go to Georgetown for the Master of Science in Foreign Service degree.

I've laid out some points, positive and negative:

(1) I have a 3.9 GPA currently. I know that a decent GPA doesn't guarantee much.

(2) I haven't done community service. (Well I did my own canned food drive once when I was 14)

(3) I have worked summers to help pay for my bachelor's degree, so I haven't done any internships, but I have done a new round of applying for next year.

(4) I don't mean to brag, but I tend to do very good work that impresses my professors, so letters of recommendation may be a plus for me. Yes, I know those won't mean much either.

(5) I have no professional work experience (i'm an undergraduate student)

(6) I am/will be more proficient in French by the time I get my BA.

Georgetown is a very good school, one basically has to have blood of the gods to get in. What are my chances? Honestly, I think I need some professional work experience before I apply to a program like Georgetown's. I'm also thinking about the peace corps. Are there any top ten, big name schools with programs in International Affairs that will take me?

(My first post, go easy on me! :D)
