Getting into University after Commitment date??

I went to a MD Community College and got a 4.0, while working at a bank and having a very strong high-school record. Surprisingly, I was rejected from UMDCP; I didn’t receive this news until just yesterday. Upon learning of this, I also realized that my back-up school (Towson) required commitment and deposit by July 1.

I will be calling Towson on Monday when they come back to the office, but is there any foreseeable way this could work in my favor?? How should I approach this?? Does anybody with prior experience know how ‘cut-throat’ these deadlines are?

It totally depends on how full they are. If their class is full it won’t matter what you say. If they have open seats they may welcome you with open arms and lay down the red carpet. That said, any financial aid they may have offers may no longer be available.

Of course, there could be other factors as well but it’s most likely that if they have space they will be very happy to let you take a spot (and pay the fee).
