I sent in my paperwork to appeal my rejection from UMD. Does anyone know how this process works? How will I be notified and when should I hear back? I called but they were unhelpful, saying it would take 4 weeks to receive a decision;however, colleges that I applied to want to know if I will be attending their university by May 1st.

Thanks XD

Then you must commit somewhere before May 1st or else risk having nowhere to go …

This happens for people who are waitlisted, too. You should pay the deposit elsewhere to ensure that you’ll get your next choice, or decide to attend community college for a year and try again at UMD. I don’t know how often they change a decision, but it’s worth a try. Just don’t leave yourself without a plan if it does not work out.

I called today and they said I will receive a decision by May 1st. Still, its cutting it short!!

Still put down a deposit somewhere else.
What happens quickly and slowly at UMD offices follows no logical pattern.

Request a transcript, or proof of enrollment, it takes weeks.

Park in the wrong row and appeal the ticket, they give you a fine amount in forty-eight hours.

Unless the logical pattern is what is inconvenient.

Ive noticed this too. I truly do not understand their logic, specifically the admissions department at UMD. Do you think its a bad idea to wait another week without putting down a deposit to another school? Theres only 19 more days until May 1st!!!

Do you plan to live on campus? Space at many state schools (including UMd) is limited. If you don’t request housing early, you may not get it …

I do plan to live on campus. I believe housing is guaranteed until May 1st for incoming freshmen.

^ That depends how you define “housing”, … at the end, they start using the triples and QUADS … :(
I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t stand a room with 3 others …
