Getting into University of CA with a 3.0 for Transfer majors?

Hi,
I am trying to transfer to a UC this Fall. The issue is, my GPA is 3.0. It's only been my first second year and I am an engineering major. However I have applied to all UCs except SC and Merced, and also a few CSUs. Since the decision date is coming so close, I am worried if I will get into the school I want to, which is UC Davis. I applied to Dais as a math major. I have applied to different schools with different majors but all BS. I am really scared. Can I get some assistance or experience story??

Just wondering, are you planning to switch majors after enrolling?

You might have a shot at SC and Riverside, but you said you didn’t apply to SC. :(

Well, I might plan on changing majors. But I am sure I want to stick to math as of now. I am taking all the physics requirements though. I messed up two semester in CCC which caused my GPA to fall so low. I know that I may or may not have chances with UCLA or UCSD because they want a straight 3.5 or more. I am still scared. I mean, I don’t know what to expect at all. And I do not want to go to Riverside and I did not apply to SC or Merced. So, I am not sure what to expect.

Is there anyone out there who is in the same situation as I am? :(

From what I’ve seen on these forums, if you want a shot at being accepted, you should aim for at least a 3.2. I’ve seen some people be accepted with less than that, so it is possible. It certainly doesn’t hurt to try. As others have said, Santa Cruz and Merced are about the only schools who could possibly accept you.

Why not repeat any D or F grades you may have received, bump your GPA up, and then TAG? That’s what I did for this application cycle.

Yeah don’t be afraid to hold off another year and fix your gpa. That’s what I did. I was applying to different csus and decided instead to stay an extra year and TAG. Only if you don’t get accepted anywhere. Davis engineering requires a 3.3 for TAG I think but they have strict prerequisites.

Anywhere you like*. Sorry on my phone.

I understand that they have pre-requisites. My back-up plan is to stay another year most probably. But the issue is, I will be done with my requirements for engineering by this year, and staying another year would mean taking only GEs which won’t help me raise my GPA much. So, I will have to wait and see.
