Getting Nervous About Admission Decision

So I applied in early October, I believe with a pretty average resume by Clemson standards. I go to a very strong Jesuit college prep school in Chicago and got a 29 on the ACT, 3.0 GPA, spent like 3 hours on my 3 sentence personal statement (Clemson is my dream school) and think I have a good set of extra-curriculars. Is it for certain I'll hear back mid-Feb or is there a chance I hear back sooner? I know I couple of people who have already been admitted but most have not. Does not receiving an acceptance letter yet diminish my chances? Thanks in advance!

There’s absolutely no chance that you’ll hear back before mid-February. Your GPA is pretty low. The large majority will hear back then so just hang on until then. Good luck!

Ok, thanks pierre. One question: Do you know if Clemson for sure reads your personal statement and if they really care about me visiting campus twice and meeting with a person in the communications dept? Also, may I ask what your high school grades/test scores were? I saw somewhere earlier that you said your grades were pretty subpar in HS. Thanks!

Clemson will read your personal statement and take it into any account if there’s anything there that helps out your application or explains any shortcomings etc… I don’t think visiting campus and meeting with someone in the communications department will help since you didn’t meet with someone in admissions. I had a 3.06 GPA in high school (wow I still remember that), 3.8 weighted. I also had a 35 on my ACT.
