If I selected Residential College when I applied and was accepted, but am no longer interested, is there a way out?
Do I have to contact an advisor, or can I just decline the offer? Will it effect my orientation if I register before leaving the Residential college?
I’d hate to give up a spot in east quad. There are also non RC students at EQ, you would just become on of them.
Well for me, I got into Ross as a pre-admit, so it would be difficult @TooOld4School
Ross does not start until sophomore year. You will just have to take the prerequisite classes (if you need them). You can stay in the RC if you want, and in LS&A if you want to double major.
@bwalts61 It is easy to decline an RC place. Just let them and undergraduate admissions know.
Are there certain dorms where Ross pre-Admits stay? I got in LSA/Ross as well .Not sure what the dorm situation is in Michigan. Also, how do you opt for Residential Colleges ?
@bwalts61, is there any reason why RC doesn’t suit Ross pre-Admits? Or is it your personal decision
No. You’re a student at the University of Michigan. Making friends with other students from a wide variety of majors and backgrounds is highly encouraged. That’s one of the advantages of going to college.
@carment Personal decision, but having to take additional required classes limits the electives I can take
@carment There is a place on the Common App where you can indicate that you want to be considered for the Residential College. It tends to be very popular and has a limited number of places, but if you want to join it you should contact Undergraduate Admissions or the RC Admissions Office directly. You can also transfer into (and out of) the RC during your freshman year.
