I've been trying hard for my first 3 HS years, but am totally slacking off senior year. My [sort of] straight A's became straight B's. Whenever a teacher assigns hw these days, I just put it away, and the sad thing is, I don't even care. I solve a few math problems and bs the rest just so that she can give me credit during a quick hw check. What I fear most is not being able to maintain a solid GPA in college because of my senior year habits. I'm mainly talking about Stern, which I hear is hard to get a good GPA. Did anyone who is currently in college have this experience during HS? How do you do in college now? I seriously have to start trying again, but I can't go back :(. I know it's my fault, but I just hope that senioritis doesn't mean failure in college. I know some people are the opposite, but what's the general trend?

Also, let's say I seriously want that I-banking job so much that I worked super hard to get the GPA. Is that a bad thing, or is it worth focusing on academics and sacrificing some of the fun part of NYU? How are you NYU people living your lives? I hope to be the well rounded type as I pretty much am now, but I don't want everyone to beat me in competition for a job so that I end up jobless. It's just that I feel so "average" right now. Maybe I'm paranoid.......

People say Stern is the best for opportunities, but I always thought Stern was one of those schools where you can only get the Wall Street job if you're a top student, meaning the rest can't work there. Is there something good for everyone? Also, is it better to excel at a less prestigious school or be average at Stern? I hope at least some of you can understand my situation. Thanks.
