Getting to stores

Does ND have a shuttle that takes you to area stores like Walmart for regular shopping during the year?

free shuttle to town, $1 cabs... someone who is not an incomign freshman can verify, but I'm pretty sure

Yea, bus to University Park Mall is free, but no $1 cabs that I know of, more expensive than that.

Im not sure on the shuttle, but you will usually find an upperclassmen on your floor with a car that you can borrow. Shopping usually gets done in large groups in one trip. Someone is usually going at least every week, so you just need to ask around and it shouldn't be a problem.

Do most upperclassmen bring cars?

ok here's the deal. theres the transpo that runs different routes through south bend and mishawaka. they do not stop in front of walmart. they stop at university park mall and you have to walk (or trudge through snow in the winter) to walmart which is maybe a 20 minute walk away.

there are no 1$ cabs. i wish there were but if you take a cab to walmart, you might end up spending more than 7$ depending on when the cab starts the meter.

i have a car, but i will not "borrow" it out. insurance issues will prevent most people from doing that. i will however bring people to martins, meijer, walmart, target, etc if i also need to go.

Red06, how far from your dorm do you have to park? Also, does security allow you to drop off people at their dorm or do you have to walk from parking lot? I know the security at the gates are sometimes questionable about allowing cars to drive directly up to dorms.

parking for most students is in D2 or D2000 for people that live on North Quad, Mod Quad and half of South Quad and D6 for people that live on half of South Quad, God Quad and West Quad. Police, during the school year, will rarely let people through the booths onto campus. It often depends on the police officer you get.
