I heard from lots of people and my parents who visited on a whim that pomona is CLEARED OUT on weekends. Apparently lots of students go to the various places in LA, but i'm concerned that there aren't enough attractions on campus to hold students' interests.

I'd appreciate it if someone could give me an insight as to why, or if this reputation is valid. thanks!

D has spent most of her weekends on campus. She may go to neighboring towns, perhaps for shopping or eating out, with friends who have cars, and on occasion go into LA/Pasadena, etc., with friends - but campus wins out.

Heh, I sense just the opposite from D - she's bemoaned having to go into LA on the weekends because she's afraid of "missing out" on the on-campus goings-on. And with 98% of undergraduates living on-campus, there's a lot going on.

i visited pomona on the weekend, and really, no one on the floor went home for the weekend
although families did come to visit them at pomona :D
there were a lot of activities going on at the campus, like the theater production, dances, parties, even a nerf war between the dorms :D
with the 5cs, i 'm sure there is always something to do
besides, the community at pomona is pretty close knit anyway :D

I went to other cities a few times over this past semester(3 trips to LA, 1 to SB) but never more than 1 day trips, and that's with my cousin at UCLA. Practically everyone stays on the 5-C' through the weekend, and that's one of the things that I like - you don't feel like you HAVE to have a car here.

Thanks everyone! I visited again and people are very involved on campus (which is eerily beautiful and quaint, btw). I'm so glad, more reason to love pomona!
