Ghostly happenings?

Hey all,
This is must be about the hokiest post ever, but I'm applying to Kenyon as a transfer and am somewhat interested in hearing about the instances of paranormal on campus. Have any of you current Kenyon students (if you should happen to be reading this) experienced anything or know anyone who has? I'm curious to find out.

I found this webpage and it had a lot about the odd occurences on campus. Kind of cool I guess.

havent met a ghost yet....too bad!
from what i have seen at gambier so far, i would guess the ghosts are pretty friendly so no worries!

LOL, I seriously thought that those ghostly stories made Kenyon more like Hogwarts. ;)

Hogwarts. That the first thing I thought of when I saw the dining hall!

^ Same. Too bad it's going to be renovated =( It makes me sad, but happy that it'll be even better!

The great hall wont even be touched. Dont worry about it at all guys. Its only the Dempseys which are going to be renovated. We Kenyonites will never let that day come when our great hall will be subjected to stupid renovation. And I pretty much dont care about Upper or Lower Dempsey.

I have lived in Old Kenyon for 3 years now. I have been in all parts of the building at all times of day and night, and no signs of any ghosts.

I didn't apply to Kenyon, but a while back I e-mailed them out of curiosity about the campus being "haunted" and got basically the same reply from a student- that she hadn't experienced any encounters. Are any former or current Kenyon students aware of the alleged "ghosts" described on that page?

im not a student at kenyon, but i do live right up the road in apple valley and i visit gambier frequently. Ive heard "rumors" or "legends" that the gates of hell are in gambier; specifically in the old church that is on campus. If you know gambier, youll also know the upside-down tree, which grows right next to that church. Oddly enough, the branches of this tree have grown towards the ground (or towards hell?). You can actually go through the branches to the center of the tree, and it feels like you are inside a dome. Its the wildest thing ever. Just a bit of speculation, but interesting all the same.

I lived in Old Kenyon last year and freaked out when I realized it was the anniversary of OK's burning...little had I known that the anniversary was the previous night. Nothing happened either night.

Oh hi guys!! It has definitely been some time since I have come to CC and I guess I wont be back soo soon... (travelling around these days and yeah, using a comp in a cybercafe now!!)

And yes, despite knowing Kenyon "much", I still feel that Kenyon has eluded me with a kind of mystery. It's hard to explain but I guess it is perhaps her long history (comparatively), her very gothic buildings or her isolation/remoteness (think of "The Village" that movie) that contributed to me feeling this way... not to mention those "ghostly happenings". But nevertheless, I am excited. And I can't wait to catch the first glimpse of her beauty or charm when I get to campus. ;)

Okay, you might call me crazy, but I have had some creepy encounters in both the basement of the church and in the dance studio (old pool).

I was in the basement of the chapel one night (there is a bible study room that is great if you feel like hiding) and was about to go back up the stairs when I felt a push on my lower back, and I actually stumbled and fell on the stairs. I am a klutz, but I swear this one wasn't on me...

I spend nearly all my time in the dance studio, and it gets very creepy at night-- strange sounds and shadows. At rehearsal just last night there were sounds coming from the old entrance to the pool from the mens locker room that all of my dancers and I heard and went to investigate, only to find nothing as usual. There have been a few times that I have opened my locker in the morning only to find my clothes soaking wet... the showers sometimes run by themselves... there are pools of water that just appear overnight in the hallway... it's a very wet and creepy place.

I don't know if there are actual ghosts at Kenyon or not, but there are definitely some creepy forces of energy or something around.
